This works very well as far as the slowly getting brighter for a gentle wake up. I wake up much less angry/irritable, probably because instead of a loud obnoxious alarm throwing me from REM I am slowly brought out of it on my own. I have had some trouble with getting the volume right on the alarm part and somehow accidentally turned it off but I just use the light part which wakes me up on its own and then use my phones alarm as insurance for sound for the days I need to actually get out of bed at a specific time. The instructions are also a little off - they say you press the clock button to confirm as you choose hour/minute but you actually need to keep pressing the alarm button. All that is pretty easy to work around though - my biggest complaint is the clock face itself; I have this hanging above my bed so the light will wake me but the numbers on the clock are SO BRIGHT. I put a piece of duct tape over the clock face (as shown in the picture) and it's still bright enough to see super clearly. Not a big fan.I always found it easier to wake up with sunlight than in the dark, so I thought that this would be a good idea.However, the light is not as intense as to be able to illuminate the whole room even at maximum intensity. It doesn't imitate sunlight, it just plays it's role as a nightlight. Also, the light is not even "daylight"... it's "soft white".Since it doesn't illuminate the whole room, if you're sleeping facing the other way you may not get the effect of the light to wake up.Also... sounds... I was expecting for these lamps to be rather standard on the sounds... they're not. This one doesn't have the jungle and farm/cricket sounds that others seem to have... for nature sounds it only has bird chirps and wave sounds (which are kind of awkward tbh but it's the only one that is rather acceptable)... the rest are music (which I didn't want).The reason I went for this one was mainly because of design, but to be honest i'm regretting it.Update: costumer service was good, plus star for that.

I got this light alarm because I was having a difficult time waking up in the morning when my phone alarm went off in the dark. So far, it has made a big difference. I am waking up without feeling jolted. Even if I choose to snooze, I simply turn down the light level and wake up more easily the next time. I don't use the sound features of the alarm, so I can't vouch for them. The alarm also has a whole range of colors that you can set the light circle to, including one that changes colors, which is kind of fun.

I have a job that requires me to be up and moving by 4:30AM Just about every weekday. Even on Summer mornings, the sun is never rising that early. This dawn simulator alarm clock is exactly what I've been needing. I no longer wake up angry to an obnoxious phone alarm that only puts me in the mood to want to go back to sleep. The gradual, soft light and bird noises make my mornings a thousand times more peaceful. I actually enjoy getting out of bed since I've been using this product!On another note: I HAVE NOT BEEN LATE TO WORK ONCE SINCE PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT. Mind you, this is coming from someone who has been chronically late to work by a good twenty minutes, on most days for years... This thing has absolutely changed my whole mood!

I've returned the item, but when I received it the alarm would not work. I slept through a few classes so I ended up using a backup alarm for the other days I used it. The controls are very confusing, and the brightness is just alright. I returned it after about three days of non-functioning alarms. I changed the settings, adjusted the times and nothing worked. I may have gotten a faulty unit, but I believe I still would have returned it regardless of the alarm issues.

I didn't buy this for its alarm, though it does work as stated. I bought it because it was different and has a clean look. I wanted something besides your typical black alarm clock. It's a little tricky to set everything up but the instructions are pretty clear and it only took a few minutes. I love the new look on my nightstand!

I might like it if I can figure out how to use it. What gives with instructions anymore. They are so vague that they are useless. When I have time I will see if someone can give betting instructions on the internet. Meanwhile it sits in a box in my closet.

Waste of money. The light isn't a warm tone like natural sun light. It's harsh and cold (think bad old police movies with the bare light bulb in the interrogation room). The sound you choose - waves crashing, field noises or ever FM radio and don't play at all in the sleep mode. and shut off after 2 minutes in alarm mode.
