I can say that his is not one of the cheap crap testers that doesn't show anything.Worth it's money and showing quite accurate. Ideal if you want to inspect car before purchase or just to check your own car if it has been painted or had a body damage.

I decided to machine polish my 1995 Eunos Roadster as it was a mass of swirl marks and holograms. I was a bit nervous as they are known to have thin paint and the last thing I wanted to do was burn through it. They also have an aluminium bonnet so needed something that works on both steel and Aluminium.I thought this unit was cheaper than a respray.The thing I really liked was it came with both ferrous and nonferrous test pieces of known coating thickness which build my confidence that the machine is accurate - the readings were accurate and repeatable.Very easy to use and quick.In my case, I was able to ascertain the the paint on both front wings was thin (high wear areas possibly to to a car cover I use) so I used only polish on these areas and not cutting compound. I.e. the unit provided data which informed my process.Car now looks so good I’m regularly stopped in the street by admirers, including yummy mummies of the school run so 100% recommend!
