Review: Mixed Feelings - First the wrong log set was sent. We had ordered the 30 inch Duluth Forge DLS-30R-1 and we received the 24 inch version on Dec 7th. The log set had been wrongly labelled. A 24 inch log set had been labelled up as a 30 inch set. The giveaway was that there were only 8 logs rather than 9 as shown in the installation instructions. That led to confusion as to whether we had received the correct size base, 24 inch or 30 inch. After some messaging with the seller using the desertcart service it turned out the base/chassis is the same for both sizes. The seller kindly sent the correct log set which we got Dec 16th. We had some difficulty getting the correct gas line connectors as none were supplied. Once all set up it took a while to finally get the pilot light lit (more of that later) and everything seemed fine. The only disappointment is that you can’t regulate the flames but the remote was really good for switching on and off. One other issue was being unable to complete the warranty registration because the web site wasn’t available. Over a month later I was able to do that. After a few days we smelt gas so shut the unit down and investigated. We resolved that and then the saga began of trying to light the pilot light again. It took a couple of hours. We checked everything over and over again but still no gas got to the pilot light. Finally we found on a supplementary sheet reference to natural gas appliances and the fact that the pilot light will not light if the pressure is too high. There is a bypass feature which can be used to rectify this. The only problem is access to that set screw is from below the unit. The logs had to be removed and the unit picked up to adjust that set screw. The instructions referred to 2-3 revolutions counter clockwise. The set screw would only move 1 ½ revolutions but that worked; the pilot light lit without problem. Hope this help anyone having issues with the pilot light. As they say you get what you pay for.
Review: They were a pain but working now… - So, the packaging and setup aren’t bad. The issue I had was that they kept shutting off over and over. What a pain! I had to keep relighting the pilot light every 15 minutes!!! Ugh! I called customer service and, of course, they want to blame the gas company. They told me that the issue was the gas company and that the pressure is either too high or too low and I need to have them come out and test the pressure. I knew that was BS so I didn’t do that. I used Chatgpt and it mentioned forums where people complained about the same issue. It mentioned that someone found success raising the logs up on bricks. After exhausting all of my other leads like blowing everything out with air, etc, I decided to give that a try. I took 4 bricks and painted them black and raised the whole unit up. I was worried it would look bad but it didn’t look bad at all! We have run it for the past couple of days for hours at a time without issue. So, while it may be engineered terribly and customer service is worthless, it may work out okay if you don’t mind a little engineering on your end. You shouldn’t have to do this as the company should re-engineer their products to work right, but they obviously don’t care and want to send you on a wild goose chase with the gas company trying to figure it out. That’s my two cents…

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flame On
*by K***U on 13 December 2025*

Nice warm glow. Comes with the rock wool thatakes the orange glow at bottom. Just tuffs of the wool does it. You tuck pieces up under bottom log. Log layout instructions is cable tied to heater, you going to need to cut that so you can read instructions while not upside down in fireplace. Remote not working as of now, just on and off. Just in time for artic blast Sunday night. Pilot lighter is a constant jumping spark while holding button down, not just one jolt per button press. Your probably going to want some type of rocks or glass around bottom area.
