Not only are these bowls beautiful, they're very sturdy. I make a point of finding something to use them for whenever I have company, and they always receive compliments.

they are unique and look great, but for anyone familiar with japan, it is unfathomable that they come in a set of four, which is the unluckiest number in japanese culture my daughter refuses to use them, even though she likes them, because there are four of them (the word for death, 死　and the number four, 四, are homophones), so we're going to buy another set, but they really should come as a set of five or six...this is not a minor quibble for most east asians, so i gotta knock it down a star.

From the beautiful pictures on Amazon depicting rice bowls or really bowls, I was led to believe that they were all of one beautiful green color and were much larger than what they are. I feel mislead and doubt I would have bought them if I had known the actual size and view of them. The bowls are much smaller than I was led to believe. Also the outside of the bowls aren't green at all, but a brown color that is hardly attractive.

Nice well made bowls but much smaller than I realized. I sent them back for a refund.

These are perfect for me and my family. We were looking for something smaller than the typical American sized plates, bowls, cups, etc. and these fit the bill perfectly. The smaller bowls will allow for better portion control.The bottoms of the bowls flatten out nicely. I love that they are hand made. As another poster had mentioned, they are like artisan bowls rather than typical run-of-the-mill, machine made dishware.The finish is thick and durable. I only hand wash these, and dry, put away back inside the cardboard wrapping they came in. This will prevent chipping. I expect them to last a long time.They came quickly, packed well, and nothing broken. Beautiful.

A little small. Definitely not a standard sized bowl that you should use for soup or cereal. But beautiful none the less and perfect for use as a bowl for an individual side dish. I bought the whole set for my new place and would also recommend buying the larger 5 3/4 inch bowls as they are better suited for everyday typical use. The 5 and 3/4 inch bowls are larger in diameter but also taller.

I love these bowls! They are beautiful! I use them for cat and dog bowls. They clean easily and have a little weight so they don't topple over.

These are more beautiful in person than what you see in the pictures. They come packaged very eloquently in a sturdy black box. Each item in it's own compartment and protected with soft paper. They are meant to be stored in the box when not in use. The colors are very rich and complex, almost like a piece of art work. These are a great value.
