Encyclopaedia Britannica 2012 DVD-ROM – 1 Oct. 2011

This product is really poor compared to the free Wikipedia programme which contains more of the material I need for my studies. I was offered a yearly subscription to Britannica but due to the poor performance of the DVD programme I declined.This product is OK but not what I would consider value for money as I was repeatedly having to resort to Wikipedia for more information on my study topics.

I bought it because I want to search texts, which I don't know when I read academic articles and books. So far helps me a lot. The good thing for me that it is included Merriam-Webster's Dictionary and Thesaurus. There was one problem, which I could not register easily after installing. What I did that I sent e-mail Britannica Customer Service (technical support) about the registration problem. They sent me e-mail back and explained what I had to do due to its functioned and activated. It was not complicate what to do but delicate: requiring careful handling, After that , I do not have any problem at all.If you are academic, it is good to buy it with a reasonable price. You would get most of all information you want.

ブリタニカという辞典については語ることはありません。評価するまでもない歴史のある世界的大辞典ですから。ただソフトウェアとしてはかなり低レベルだと思います。辞典が厳かなものである分、それが顕著に目立ちます。まずユーザー登録が毎回促されるポップアップがでるので、しょうがなくユーザー登録画面に行きます。すると登録画面の途中で止まってしまいます。Amazon USAなどのレビューにも同様のことが書いてありました。ちなみに「ストアなどをもし使わなくてもクレジットカードをとりあえず入力してください」的に促されます。最近なんとか最後の画面までたどり着きユーザー登録完了のEmailまで来ているのに関わらず、起動する度にまだ「ユーザー登録をしてください」のポップアップがでます。もう嫌です。（私の英語力の問題ではありません）ソフトウエアとして最低です。…がこの値段でブリタニカを読めるという事実を勘案すると…買っても良いかも。

I received the Software a few days after ordering, the installation was actually quick and easy considering the amount of data that has to be installed, the program itself is very educating and fun to explore, now Customer Service from Britannica is a whole different story.You need to register in order to update the software to include current events, for 4 days I received an error message with a code # 404basically saying that this website is down, I went to Britannica.com to register there and was notified that there is an internal error.Again I tried for 4 days, in the meantime I contacted Customer service via e-mail twice and never received an answer to my inquiries.If you consider buying this Software keep in mind that the free 1 year update of the Software and 1 year free membership to the Britannica deluxe club will not happen, after you purchase this Software you are on your own. The only thing that will happen is your registration info will be saved by Britannica and all you get is an increase in junk mail, which I experienced already, and the knowledge that Britannica is selling your info to 3rd parties.To bad that such great software has absolutely no support.

When I saw the Encyclopedia Britannica 2012 DVD for the prince displayed, I could not believe it. I thought that even if were not the entire Britannica, my absolute favorite encyclopaedia, for the price, I would make the purchase a deal. So I ordered it. When it arrived, it was exactly as advertised, and frankly, felt like a child in a candy store with permission to eat what and all that I wanted! I don't gush often about books, or the deals being offered, but this is truly an exception. There was much more then I even dreamed about getting. I recommend this DVD very highly. It is great, and as useful as it is great. It is packed with more then the encyclopaedia.

My son used this book for a class in high school. It was very helpful and very well written. He said it was easy to follow.

I bought this for my husband, as he is interested in just about anything. The Brittanica 2012 has a massive bank of information for one to search. Endless possibilities here!

Outstanding resource suitable for all ages. I bought the Encyclopedia Britannica 2012 DVD for my granddaughter (6 years old) and she loved it. Easy to load onto the computer--several options where you can load the whole DVD onto the computer or choose to open the encyclopedia when you load the DVD; either way, it is fast. Would recommend to anyone.
