Replaced Cerave for Me.
After years of using Cerave Moisturizing Cream, and being pretty happy with it but still wanting more from a moisturizer, my dermatologist suggested Vanicream. I bought the large jar with built-in pump at a local drugstore, but wanted something a little more travel/purse-friendly.First off, the pump alone puts Vanicream above Cerave. I've bought after-market pumps for Cerave since there's something really gross to me about dipping fingers (clean or not) into a tub of moisturizer. The pump on Vanicream keeps the moisturizer sealed against contamination, and lets me get just the right amount. The tube is great - big enough to last a while, but small enough to slip into a purse or travel bag/dopp kit. I've never seen the tubes in any stores, only the pump jar.The cream itself is not as thick as Cerave, but it's more moisturizing. It doesn't feel heavy or leave the skin feeling greasy or sticky. I think the main difference between Vanicream and Cerave is that Vanicream contains petrolatum, while Cerave does now. Cerave DOES contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid, but Vanicream, to me, is far more moisturizing. It's both emollient and occlusive, sealing moisture in and lasting all day and all night. It's gentle, non-comedogenic and has not scent whatsoever - no fragrance OR masking fragrance. To me the cream works best when used in conjunction with the Vanicream cleansing bar. While the skin is still slightly damp but not wet, apply the lotion. It absorbs and dries quickly, for all day moisturizing. Definitely a holy-grail product for me.Oh - I use this moisturizer primarily on my body, but it also works wonderfully for the face!

Amazing cream, a little sticky feeling
I really like this cream. This was recommended to me after my baby broke out using a different cream after her bath. My boys have sensitive skin but it appears that hers is even more so.The cream is really thick and goopy. Kind of like a mix between aquaphor and lotion texture. That's the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5. Because it's so sticky for a while, I put it on my baby at night and by morning it's no longer sticky. As far as the product's results, they are amazing! This cream has cleared up patches of dry skin and eczema on my baby that even aquaphor didn't (and I swear by aquaphor). I highly recommend this product for all babies or anyone, especially if you have sensitive skin. Just note that it's very sticky and goopy for a while.UPDATE: We have been using this cream for about a month or so on my baby. The results are absolutely amazing. There were patches of eczema that I was applying aquaphor on multiple times a day just to keep it at bay and this cream cleared them up overnight. Now, we only use this cream 1-2 times a week and we haven't seen one dry patch in forever and no break outs. I am astounded at this product and have been starting to purchase other products from the Vanicream line. They have earned a loyal customer!I can easily ignore the stickiness of this product and am upgrading my rating to 5 stars.

Good Lotion for Eczema
This is a nice, thick lotion but I honestly think using organic coconut oil and shea butter works just as well. This is great for keeping in my purse though. This doesn't sting like most lotion, and really has no scent, which I love! I bought it because I had a really bad eczema outbreak.

All around great moisturizer
I tried Vanicream a couple of years back for dermatitis I was getting almost every month around and over my eyelids. The rash was red, itchy and of course eventually flaky. I had tried several other products and eventually I tried this. It immediately soothed the itching and redness and by day 2 my skin was not flaking off anymore and by day 3, was completely gone. My skin is fair and sensitive and so I also used this instead of my regular anti-aging facial cream those days and I noticed that it dramatically reduced any redness I had normally anywhere else on my face and my skin was softer and appeared healthier. So then I started using this right after my usual serum and lotion sunscreen every morning and eventually noticed that I wasn’t even getting the 2 or so pimples a month I still get well into my adulthood. And I’m not even sure if this is non-comedogenic, but I’m telling you that in using this after my regular serum and lotion, I noticed a real difference in the tone and overall health of my skin. And it’s inexpensive too. It’s great great stuff and I’m glad I tried it because I save quite a bit of money using it instead of more expensive cream.

Life Changer!
This has been my life saver. I have oily, acne prone skin that has been haunting me for nearly a decade. I have tried many many products, including over the counter, prescription, and homemade. My husband has befriended an allergist immunologist who recommended that I give up all of that and stick solely with Vanicream products. I have been using the cleansing bar, the light lotion during the day and this lotion at night for just over a month, maybe six weeks. My skin is soft and smooth with almost no breakouts. My husband has commented how much better skin is and I often go without makeup with no feeling of insecurities because of my sensitive skin. The SPF is also very good. And everything is kid friendly, another perk.I also use this lotion on the rest of my body at night and/or right after showering. It feels slightly sticky at first as most heavy lotions do. But the feeling goes away very quickly leaving my skin feeling hydrated and calm.I definitely recommend these products. I will continue using these and has basically given up all other products, including my homemade lotions with essential oils. Most of my breakouts likely occurred because of those products on my sensitive skin. I had no idea my skin was sensitive until an ALLERGIST suggested it. Forget dermatologists, mine prescribed only topical and oral drugs for my skin problems.I hope you give this a try. Vanicream is seriously my favorite beauty routine.
