The Rubber Band/The Red Box 2-in-1

These two are one of my most favourite books. As much as I love to have them, I have concerns if this a real copy, and not pirated. The print isn't very good, and there is a difference in font size between the first book and second. The paper is really thin, even the cover is of low quality paper. If it's real then I have no qualms, but if it isn't, it's disappointing.

.....perché la traduzione in italiano era semplicemente orripilante, dovuto principalmente a due fattori. Primo, le traduzioni erano selvaggiamente tagliate, per far rientrare nelle 150/160 pagine standard della collana del Giallo Mondadori ogni romanzo, di qualunque autore, non importa quanto lungo il romanzo o quanto importante l'autore. Secondo, perché la gustosa narrazione, tra l'ironico ed il sarcastico, e l'altrettanto gustosa prosa, frasi, modi di dire del narratore delle storie, nella finzione Archie Goodwin, Rex Stout nella realtà, sono completamente, assolutamente perse nella traduzione, che più piatta e sciapita non si può! Inoltre, questi sono due tra i migliori romanzi dei primi dedicati alle imprese di Nero Wolfe da Rex Stout, chi può dimenticare in un "The rubber band", la frase di Nero Wolfe a Clara Fox "You are in two fixes, Miss Fox, but before the end we can be able to make a merger"? In conclusione, leggere Nero Wolfe ed Archie come sono stati messi sulla pagina da Rex Stout è veramente un'altra cosa!

Detailed and articulate story and the characters are immediately recognisable

Loved this early story about Wolfe and Archie. Had about of clever interactions and dialogue. Kept me guessing right til the end.

A really good read, I recommend ordering the series
