Yojimbo vs zatoichi can’t sake for more. Unless it was Godzilla vs ultra man but we get an awesome action comedy worthy of the characters

The interaction of Shintaro Katsu and Toshiro Mifune is classic. Well written and delivers on excellent swordplay skills. Well worth the rental price.

Toshiro Mifune and Shintaro Katsu are great as usual. This is a serious story with some tongue-in-cheek nods to earlier samurai films Toshiro had starred in, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had already seen it many years ago, but was moved to watch it again after going to see Rogue One. I'm almost certain Rogue One is making its own nod to this movie with its characters Chirrut Imwe (a blind 'swordsman') and Baze Malbus (a 'bodyguard').

This is the top of the top! Mifune is magnificent as always, phenomenal Katzu next to him. A sentimental ending, for a change.

Love these films and this series doesn't disappoint.Shintarô Katsu is a great actor and features as Zatoichi for all 26 episodes of the series, so no chopping and changing of different centre actors for the characters.Although some of them are harder to find than others its worth getting them to watch the old style samurai acting thats been lost in the film industry.If you've watched others before and like, then I recommend the Babycart series starring Wakayama Tomisaburo, another class samurai series, the famous Samurai Trilogy that inspired Clint Eastwoods Dollar Trilogy,and stand-alone films like Azumi and Roningai.

Wer japanischen Sarkasmus mag und den sozialhistorischen Hintergrund versteht (Geldentwertung in den 60er) kann sich fast schier schräg lachen. Ansonsten ein typischer Mifune als Säufer und der klassische Katsu als Fresssack, ein Duell der Galgenvögel, wunderbar!

Der Titel sagt schon alles! Tatsächlich trifft Zatoichi auf Yojimbo (Toshiro Mifune). Es kommt sogar zu einer Auseinandersetzung gleich am Anfang, in der Zatoichi Yojimbo regelrecht auf den Arm nimt. Aber gerade daraus entwickelt sich eine tiefe Beziehung, ähnlich wie bei Sanjuro, wobei dort am Schluß die Beziehung mit dem Schwert beendet wird, was "Sanjuro" so eigentlich garnicht wollte.

Zwei legendäre Figuren des japanischen Kinos in einem Film, ich habe mich darauf sehr gefreut. Leider war ich dann ein bisschen enttäuscht, weil ich mir mehr Schwertkämpfe erhofft habe (z.B. Okami), dies war jedoch nicht der Fall. Der Film ist jedoch teilweise sehr lustig, Yojimbo hat oft einen im Tee und nimmt Zatoichi auf dem Arm.Der Film ist in japanisch mit deutschen Untertiteln, das Bild ist für ein so alten Fim sehr gut.Wer auf alte asiatische Film steht kann zugreifen, die Anderen lassen die Finger von.
