We use a sump to handle the feet of rain we get yearly, so I expect to get a couple of years of service between replacement.This particular unit moves the water at a good rate and I've not had any problems with it clogging up. I recommend it, but as with any machine, excessive use will shorten the useful life. I installed it basically while I was under water after I found out the previous one in my crawlspace had failed. This thing emptied the entire crawlspace worth of water in under 30 minutes. Mind you there was about 3 inches of standing water outside above the level of the sump pit. I did learn that some of the drain pipe was not secured and it blew the junctions with the force but that's not the pumps fault. Even with all of the rain we have had in TN the crawlspace has been dry as a bone since installing this unit.
