Seagate Barracuda 4 TB Internal SATA Hard Drive HDD 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5 Inches (8.8 cm) for Computer Desktop PC (ST4000DM004)

Ordered this drive on Amazon sale, first one delivered within a day. Connect it to desktop to try transferring some files, right off the bat gnome disks says 1700+ bad sectors, however drive health is ok. Do a brief research and found that this alone might not make it a bad drive, the number may not even go up. Try transferring files from old hard disk (HGST, 1TB, 3 years old, zero bad sectors), after about 100GB transfer, rsync slows down and begins to complain. I check gnome disks, 2590+ bad sectors, drive health reduced to 99 from 100, still says ok. Decided not ok, disconnect the drive and repackaged it.Order a replacement, replacement gets delivered 3 days later in torn up packaging held together with rubber bands. Connect the drive again, Windows disk management asks to intialize drive, click initialize, fails with IO error. Boot linux live distro, with the SATA cable from my Crucial SSD connected to this drive on the off chance the cable was bad. Gnome disks can't initialize the drive, gparted fails to scan drive and complains about IO errors. Disconnected and repackaged it, now contemplating next move.Edit: Ended up taking it up to seagate customer service, RMAed it, they gave me a new hard drive, with warranty, delivered in a properly cushioned box. Using it for 5 months now, no issues yet.

Does not work.Got DOA item and returns not accepted. Will have to waste months going to get this hdd replaced from seagate service center.waste of time and money. will never buy from amazon again.

Reviewing it after 4 months usage.It's value for money purchase with 2 years warranty. The installation is very easy and performance is good as per the expectation . Speed to access the files is very fast. Laptop performance got increased as well.Kindly do not forget to register your device with manufacturer 'Seagate' to claim the 2 year warranty.Normal loading is faster as well and heavy games which required continuous streaming from the HDD have stopped stuttering. So now we can play the game without any stuttering.Please check the compatibility with your device before buying if you have any doubt.Finally satisfied with the purchase.

Decent hdd for the price. I got it when it was on sale (the price was 1k lower than it's rival WD in the same segment, at that time).I paired it my already installed WD 500gb 7400 rpm and it's working flawlessly.For guys who are super concerned about space in their cabinet, this hdd is 2x smaller form factor than WD in the same segment. Ofcource I'm talking height wise.For guys who prefer quiet pc, this hdd does not even makes the hum sound few other hdd from others brands tend to make. I tested it on higher loads.Overall, a must have hdd to have if you are on a budget and require decent space.

A peine déballé j'ai vérifié le logo de certification d'authenticité qui ne matche pas dans la base de seagate contrairement à ceux de mes autres seagate authentiques parfaitement identifiés. D'ailleurs la disposition des logos est infidèles aux modèles français et asiatiques comme on peut les retrouver sur le site officiel de Seagate et d'autres sites professionnels Français.Très déçu que Amazon ne puisse pas vérifier plus que ça les produits qu'il permet de vendre via sa plate-forme....

Für zweimalige, dafür intensive Nutzung im Jahr (Aufbereitung meines Fotoarchivs des jeweiligen Jahres zur Sicherung in der Cloud) und "Auffrischen" der vorhandenen Archivfestplatten (lokal sichern, löschen, neu formatieren -Langversion- sowie anschließender Oberflächenprüfung) suchte ich eine preisgünstige Festplatte mit dem Verwendungszweck angepaßter Kapazität. Seagate war aufgrund langjähriger Negativerfahrungen (Festplattendefekte bei Laptopreparaturen im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis) nicht meine erste Wahl, aber dank "Amazon Choice", der Empfehlung eines Kumpels und der überwiegend positiven Rezensionen gab ich diesem Hersteller eine "second chance".Auspacken, anschließen, initialisieren, testen mit den üblichen Testprogrammen (ich vertraue mein Fotoarchiv nur getesteten Festplatten an). Alles bestens, keine großartige Leistung, aber für den Preis OK.Dann das große Erwachen: Bei der Übertragung großer Datenmengen (>250GiB in einem Rutsch, Dateigrößen allesamt zwischen 21-25MiB) stotterte die Schreibrate bis hinab zu deutlich unter 2MiB/s mit "Gedenkpausen von 3-5s. Die pessimistisch gerechnete Datenübertragungszeit verlängerte sich dadurch auf das Siebenfache - völlig inakzeptabel.Weil ich das nicht so recht glauben wollte, formatierte ich die Festplatte erneut, statt NTFS mit ext4 (diesmal beobachtete ich auch den Zeitraum - das dauerte nicht nur gefühlt viel zu lange), und testete unter Linux. Identisches Ergebnis. Die Festplatte geht zurück - ich vermute, daß es sich hier um OEM-Rückläufer handelt, nachdem ich bei meinem Kumpel und seiner typgleichen HDD die selben Ausreißer feststellen konnte. Eigentlich völlige Zeitverschwendung, aber manchmal packt einen die Neugierde,,,,,

El producto llegó en el plazo anunciado. Compré dos por error ya que en el primer intento la compra falló y al solucionar el problema inicié de nuevo la compra y al final cuando me llegaron los dos decidí no devolver uno.Comprados en Julio del año pasado y con dos años de garantía Seagate. Al cabo de 7 meses uno de los disco falló y he perdido toda la información contenida en el.Me puse en contacto con el anunciante y ni se dignó a contestarme. Escribí a Seagate y me dieron una serie de instrucciones para comprobar que efectivamente no funcionaba. A partir de ahí me dijeron que pasos debía seguir para iniciar la devolución para el cambio.Entre el envío de mi disco averiado y la recepción de uno nuevo han transcurrido 15 días aproximadamente y el modelo no es el mismo porque el mío tenía memoria previa física a parte del disco y el nuevo no pero a cambio el mío era de un tera y el nuevo es de dos.Para este tipo de artículos aconsejo siempre registrarlos en la web del fabricante.

Je ne recommanderai plus l'achat de disques durs sur Amazon et en ce qui me concerne, c'est le dernier. Je ne critiquerai pas le DD qui est un bon disque et qui fait son boulot. J'espère simplement qu'il le fera longtemps car je n'ai pas de qualificatifs assez mauvais pour qualifier l'emballage d'expédition.Imaginez un carton fin de 30x20x20 cm avec à l'intérieur le disque dur dans une pochette cartonnée (même pas une enveloppe bulles).Ajoutez, pour lui tenir compagnie le ventirad commandé en même temps et qui lui, était dans son emballage fabricant.Il reste à ajouter un morceau de papier craft froissé, le tout occupant à peine le tiers du carton. Tout ça a joué au "flipper" pendant l'expédition et je me suis étonné que le disque dur fonctionne à la réception. Si ce n'était l'impatience de mon fils pour remonter son PC, je l'aurai réexpédié dans le même carton par retour de courrier. Quand Amazon fera-t-il un effort d'emballage pour les disques durs ?????

The seagate drive was bought as a replacement for failing Hitachi 3.5" hard drive in a Hewlet Packard desktop ccomputer.I also purchased a Rshtech cady to enable the clone.On plugging the seagate into the caddy and powering it up, the seagate did not spin.To find out wether the caddy or the seagate was at fault.I removed the Hitachi drive from my computer and tried that in the caddy.It spun up as expected and on conection to a laptop all its files could be seen.So the supplied seagate drive was not working and is faulty.I am returning it for a refund.I was surprised by this as I have always bought seagate, I have 3 - 1tb external Seagate drives and they have worked perfectly for many many years.
