Moves Air Through the Whole Room, Not Just Straight at You
This has been a really great fan, and it works differently than the traditional box or oscillating fans I have used in the past. The biggest difference is how it moves air. Instead of just blowing a breeze directly in one spot or sweeping back and forth, the Vornado pushes a strong, focused stream of air that is meant to bounce off a wall or ceiling and circulate throughout the room. When it is positioned that way, the whole space feels more comfortable, not just the area directly in front of the fan. I do think it cools and circulates a room better than any traditional fan I have used. The air feels like it is moving through the room more evenly, which has made a noticeable difference for me. I liked it enough that I purchased a second one. I personally sleep with a fan and prefer one that has some sound to it, as long as it runs smoothly and does not make odd clinking, rattling, buzzing, or humming noises. This fan has been great for that. On the highest setting, it is definitely on the louder side, but the sound is smooth and works well as white noise for me. On the lower settings, it is much quieter. Right now, I am using it during the day in early June with a window open, and it has kept the room comfortable enough that I have not needed to turn the air conditioning on. What I like: • Circulates air through the whole room when positioned correctly • More effective than traditional box or oscillating fans I have used • Strong, focused airflow • Smooth sound without rattling or buzzing • Great white noise on higher settings • Quieter on lower settings • I liked it enough to buy a second one Things to be aware of: • It works best when aimed toward a wall or ceiling so the air can circulate • It can be loud on the highest setting • Not the same as a traditional oscillating fan • If fan noise bothers you, this may not be the best fit on higher speeds Overall: This is one of the best fans I have used for keeping a room comfortable. It is designed more for whole-room circulation than just blowing air directly at you, and when positioned correctly, it makes the space feel noticeably cooler and more comfortable.

Vornado 683DC Energy Smart Medium Pedestal Air
I’ve been using the Vornado 683DC for a few days and it’s a solid upgrade from a regular fan. It moves air around the whole room instead of just blowing in one direction, so the cooling feels more even and consistent. It’s powerful but still energy efficient, and I’ve been comfortable using it for long hours. It’s not completely silent, but the noise is low and manageable for daily use, including while working or sleeping. Overall, it feels durable, effective, and worth it if you want stronger airflow and better room circulation than a basic fan.

The Best Fan Ever!
We have gone through a bunch of fans over time. All different makes and styles. Expensive and cheap. They have all seized up. We run fans all the time just to move the air a bit more. The motors just fail. We have one Vornado fan on our 36ft sailboat. It is still running fine after years. So when the fan in the bedroom of our travel trailer failed after less than a year. I looked at the Vornado fans. These were more $$ because they are DC, not AC. Bought one. What a great fan. They are smaller but really move the air well. And they are extremely quiet! At the half-power setting, you really cannot hear it running. But it is moving the air really well. At full power, they really move the air. Love these fans. We purchased another one. Now we have one in the bedroom of the camper and one in the galley of the camper. Moving the air really nice. The one in the galley (26 ft camper) you can feel the air moving all the way to the other end where the bedroom is down a hallway. It is really nice having the variable speed control instead of just three speeds pre-set. Infinite speed control. And no sound. The base has 5 legs. I removed one to allow the fan to be placed closer to the wall. Still very stable this way. (picture) Just a perfect fan. And 80% more efficient, That will save us some electrical use. The extra cost is totally worth it. When the time comes for another fan in the house we will be buying one of these for sure.

Great fan. PITA to clean. LOVE the true variable-speed DC control.
The "old school" DC motor and control knob harkens back to "analog" days, and is so superior to modern push-button or digital speed controls, it's not funny. You have absolute control over the speed of the fan. No generic "Low, Med, Hi" presets or "stepping" speeds of digital controls. The unit is whisper quiet or or totally silent at lower speeds. Even at mid-speed, while audible, it's quieter than most other fans at the same speed. The generated breeze is consistent and certainly aids air circulation in a room. There are only 2 improvements I'd love to see: 1. A rotation option. Though I'd expect this to add some noise, it's minimal, and would improve overall air-flow coverage. 2. An "EZ" remove front grill system. The biggest drawback to this fan, like all fans, is that it sucks in dust, which in time sticks to the blades and all internal surfaces. In order to properly clean it? You need a 1/4" x 5-7" phillips head screwdriver. There are 3 deeply seated screws that must be removed before you can unclip the grill. Then, there are 4 plastic 'clips' that hold the front grill in place. Miserable little clawed systems that aren't designed to be pressured open by hand, and you'll need to slip something under each released clip while you do the others, or it'll clip back into place. Clearly this WAS NOT designed to be consumer accessible for cleaning.

Perfect sound, and all the air circulation you’ll need.
I am a FAN! After an hour chatting with GPT it finally talked me into buying this. Out of the box I felt a little disappointed due to its size but man don’t let it fool you. The Vornado puts out so much air it’s PERFECT for my 16x18 master bedroom. The sound is also exactly what I wanted, not too loud to where it drowns out all outside noise but loud enough to find that sweet spot for a full nights rest. I had it on full blast and actually had to turn it down so I wasn’t cold throughout the night. The only regret I have is how much money I’ve wasted over the years on cheap Walmart fans that lasted me a year maybe. All in I highly recommend.

Insanely awesome energy efficiency!!!!
I did a lot of research trying to find the most energy efficient fans out there. I was very reluctant to pay the high price for this fan, but it is definitely worth it. Not only does this fan have the look and feel of a solidly built produce (no chincy plastic that I expect to break at any moment), but it is EXTREMELY energy efficient! I bought two different models (683DC pedastal and the 133DC compact tabletop). Both appear to be high quality products. Instead of buttons, the fan has a continuous turn knob, so there are infinite setting options. The pedastal model (683DC) ranges in energy use between 1 - 38 kw. On max it's 38 kw and blows like one of those high speed turbo fans. At about 70% - 80% speed it's between 15 - 20 kw. At ~ 65% its only 9 kw and at half it's just 5 kw. The tabletop model (133DC) is shockingly powerful for such a small fan. At max it uses a mere 12 kw and is plenty strong for a small room. We have this in our daughter's bedroom and it's plenty of air to keep her cool in summer. The only downside to this fan is extremely quiet. At half speed you can barely hear it at all, so we're left with turning it higher than desired just to get the background white noise. But everything else is awesome. Except the price. Not sure why they had to price it so high. But I'd still buy it again.

The BEST
This fan is by far the best fan for the price. It excells in it's performance. It is easy to assemble and extremely well built. The best part is that regardless of the setting it has a consistent flow of air which handles any need required. Don't look at another fan, buy this one...it won't disappoint.

2nd one I now own
Bought 1 of which I had for best part of a year, on everyday and on through the night, hence buying this one. My last one was black (which I believe is in its 4th year in daily function/service all year round - 3 set speeds) and this one white. (Smart and variable speed) I too bought two desk ones as well as being that impressed with the brand, the product. I will continue to invest in to this brand.

Only noisy past the 75% mark.
Terrific fan. This is the first Vornado I got. I now have 4 total (various types). The size for this is decent for one room. I initially had it spreading the cold air from the AC down a hallway. I have since switched it for a larger fan. We have since been using it in the bedroom, we maintain the power at about the 3/4 mark and it is quiet. The power brick does become a little warm (nothing alarming) when used at full power for long amounts of time.

Good fan
It looks small, but if I'd looked at a tape measure, I would have known exactly what to expect. It does a good job of quietly moving air at low speeds, which was critical to staying comfortable this past summer. The variable speed control allows me to get lower speeds than with most conventional 3- or 4-speed fans, and this is what helped keep it nice and quiet! At maximum speed, it's quite loud, but it also moves a lot of air. I don't usually need to turn it up that high. Construction looks nice and sturdy (it hasn't failed in the last several months), but it could take years to find out how well built it really is.

Vornado air circulation is superior!
50 stars .. 5 stars for each pedestal fan i now own + another 10 for the two more I plan to buy… … initially bought one, then another and now have 8. They are connected via the Alexa app, and all i have to say “Alexa fans or off with or without a timeline”…the air movement / circulation is amazing and cannot be beat…adds to the always on furnace fan … I place my units near or on a register at the lowest speed and aim them up/down to maximize air flow direction —I prefer air circulation rather than cold ac or stagnant heat…my ac now is only used in extreme heat …helps with heat movement in the winter and dampness in the summer as well … saves unreal on hydro costs … even when running 8 fans @ .5amps my hydro bills and natural gas costs are down 25+ %. These pedestal fans are decorative and blend in … these fans are worth every dollar just for the comfort they afford me and with lower utility bills they have already paid for themselves !…my home is fresh and beyond comfortable ! Ps - I also use air purifiers on low settings with hepa filtration along with a Venmar Evos 5 heat exchanger to capture any dust that may arise … initially there was a lot .. now I rarely/if ever dust!

Great but Expensive, not Cleanable, no Replacement Parts
It's a great sturdy and quiet product. But at this price point, it doesn't come with a remote (!!), contrary to what the user's guide (which is for another model) reads, the grid on this model can't easily be removed for proper cleaning and maintenance. After a summer of relatively heavy use, blades are eroded. There's no way to replace just the blades. Again, this is a great product but if you're looking for proper value for your money, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a heavy-duty, "buy it for life" product, look elsewhere.
