HG fl 406 Complete Motor Head

This is standard replacement part for our Fluval 406 - the original motor head went bad (we identified why - there was a crack in the piece that takes the water in (the connecting piece/small tube part of the intake strainer)- air was mixing in and it made constant stress on the motor + made strange sound and it eventually died. So when I got this replacement part and installed it I started hearing the same noise - then I did some further troubleshooting to find the crack - we replaced the intake strainer and it all works fine - too bad I didn't figure this out sooner that way I wouldn't have needed to replace the motor... Since I installed it, no problem, working fine.

I’m replacing a bad motor only because it ran dry. My last 404 lasted about 15+ years. I’m running 2 406’s on my 72 gallon cichlids peacock tank and my water is pristine. Over filtration is the way to go !! My only issue was the primer white handle was broken from shipping. Since I still had the Old motor it wasn’t a issue for me.

I just got my replacement motor head for my fluval 406 in the mail today. I opened it to find it already broken. It seemed to be packed well and the box was looking fine. So I think this was shipped to me broken. I'm very disappointed.

My old one was getting loud, the new one is perfectly quiet. Ahhhh

Love fluval but the primer broke off during shipping, it was just tossed into the box no bubble wrap peanuts or anything to protect it

So based on the picture I thought this was the top piece of the fluval filter…. It is not just the maintenance kit for it. So wasn’t what I was expecting and returned it. I didn’t read anywhere this was just a maintenance kit but only having the one image it should have been a red flag that it was not as advertised

Had a fluval 406 tat simply stopped working despite putting a new motor in it. This came in three days and worked perfectly. I wasn’t able to find anything anywhere locally so this saved me money versus buying a 407 and trying to adapt it.
