Can I brine a turkey in one of these?

I have been using these bags to brine my Thanksgiving turkey for years (I generally have a 17 - 22 lb. bird).  These are the only bags recommended by America's Test Kitchen, as they are tested and approved as food-safe.  For brining, after preparing the brine solution, I put the bird into the bag with the brine, get the air out of the bag as much as possible, zip the bag shut, twist the top and add a zip-tie for extra protection.  I then put the whole bag inside a large garbage bag, and depending on the weather (I live in the Northeast), either put it out on the porch in a cooler (if it's cold enough) or in a large lobster pot (or bottom bin, if there's room) in my refrigerator.  I don't re-use the bags once they've been brined.  I also use these for "cooler corn" during summer barbecues - put shucked ears of corn into the bag, cover with boiling water, remove excess air and seal.  Place in a cooler for 30 minutes, then drain = perfectly cooked ears of corn!  A great way to make lots of corn for a crowd, without doing it on the grill or on the stove - I've cooked up to 50 ears of corn at a time using this technique.

Can I freeze meat in these bags

Hi David!Yes, you can store food in these bags!  Since the Big Bags are made of a thicker, heavy duty plastic, than the smaller freezer bags are made of, I don't see why not.Can I use Ziploc® brand Big Bags to store food?Yes.
