Was so concerned because the water colors were fading quickly. I restored some of the paint and then spread this wax evenly over the top. The wax spreads easily and absolutely no smearing or altering of the paint. So happy it works so well. I really want to display the paintings and not put them away and glass just wouldn’t work with canvas. 5 stars. I highly recommend this product.

I am very happy with the Dorlands Wax Medium for watercolor painting. Just as described. I just wiped a little dab in a circular motion or back and forth to smooth over my entire completed watercolor painting. It enhanced the colors slightly and formed a waterproof seal. Allowed to dry completely and water droplets just rolled off the surface with no disruption to the painting whatsoever! Awesome Next Day Delivery 🚚!!

because it comes with no instructions. I have rubbed it on several bookmarks. I use gloves. It is hard to buff. Maybe I am using too much, I am not sure. I have used it on several type of watercolor paper all with the same results. I have not tested if the bookmarks are waterproof after waxing yet. I worry that the wax might come off in a book, so I wonder if a clear spray would work better. It works well over dried watercolor, and Pigma Micron pens. It does not work well over colored pencils, (they have wax in them) but it did not take all the color off so it worked out ok.
