Flute 101: Mastering the Basics

I am enjoying this with my beginner student. I think I like the very early introduction to duets, but she is a fast learner and has some music background already. This book is a great tool in my teaching bag.

Starts very simple. Slowly progresses. I think my daughter will do well with it.

Exactly what teacher requested. Great supplemental instruction.

I really don't like spiral notebooks. After only a couple days of handling, the spirals are coming out. I will remove the spiral completely and put each page in plastic sheet protectors & a 3-ring notebook. The book arrived in good shape. Packaging was good. It's an excellent beginner book. I just don't like spiral-bound books.

I purchased this book to help me 'self teach' me how to play the flute. The organization of the lesson plans are well laid out, and following them will get the results I'm hoping for. It suggests getting personal instruction which I completely agree with.

I took a class that required this book and I’m happy to say that it shipped in time for the “book check”. The book itself was in perfect condition (minus one faint crease which I’m sure is from handling) and the content is enriching. I’m not sure if this book is good at teaching music theory but it sure can teach the dang flute.

Better than most other single instrument flute books out there, but with some flaws. Love the tone and reading development along the way, but rhythmic and metric understanding is uneven, for example introducing 2/4 once then not using it at all for many pages.

Spiral binding very helpful.
