These are great lights. I think unboxing them might have taken longer than installing them :-) unfortunately, the dimmer and remote did not work well for me. I wanted to keep the lights at 10% all the time and then power them on/off with a switch, not the remote. I was not able to do this. When the switch was turned on, the lights would not come back on without the remote. I simply removed the dimmer unit, and I'm now simply powering them on and off with my switch. It's unfortunate because they're extremely bright.. Which, depending on your application, can be a good or bad thing. Overall though, they're awesome lights and I would recommend them to anyone. I will be buying a 12v driver/power supply separately with a dimming switch to see if I can get them to work the way I'd like them to. I'll update this review when I get this done. The remote is very small and flimsy, I'd rather the remote not be my primary source of adjusting the lights. Not to mention, in my house, that thing would likely get lost! Also, I did buy a 15/16 spade drill bit, I did not use the black sleeve, and the installation was truly a breeze. Be mindful of lining up the arrows - they're rather hard to see. I'd recommend wiring them up during full daylight hours. Update: 10/7/2020 I've since purchased a 12v/60W power supply and dimmer, and I'm pleased to say that the updated configuration is working well! Since I ran together more lights than a single provided power supply can supply in watts, this was necessary. I wired a dimmer switch, which also powers the lights off, and this was the perfect solution for my situation. It's a rotary, PWM dimmer, which I mounted in an outdoor plastic enclosure box. These lights are awesome!

Wanted to find some nice LED lights to provide nighttime visibility for the stairs. I liked the small footprint of these, the price and the reviews so I went for it. Turns out these were the perfect thing to finish off my summer sun deck project! My wife and I love them. I bought the appropriate sized hole saw and quickly cut holes in the composite decking material of the stair risers. The lights slide in and hold on tight and have a nice, finished look to them. Since there are 16 in a set, I put 4 in the risers, 8 suspended under the deck surface proper for some cool nighttime downlighting that also gives a nice mellow glow that can be seen between the deck boards, and then the final 4 are in the garden succulents just near the stairs. The ones in the garden I just pushed into the dirt and they make a wonderful uplight of the garden area so the whole backyard has beautiful accent and functional lighting. I also bought the separate remote dimmer and an extension cord kit so I could make the final run from the deck into the garden area. All 16 are controlled with the wireless remote from inside the house. Because the lights at full brightness are quite bright which kind of overwhelms the effect of the night lighting, we typically set them to about 30% which is perfect for stair safety and backyard ambiance. Highly recommended for your home projects. A great value.

Very bright. Similar brightness to my illumicare cliff coping lights. Same matching color with the warm choice. Made a custom up light stick out of pvc and painted it, flush mounted them around the patio and sitting wall. Extremely happy. Can be dimmed with separate $9 dimmer. Used a landscape light transformer typical for yard lights to connect more strands together. 2 years still running great. I didnt need to dim them. 4 years later. Had to replace three lights. Plug and play. The spring side contacts had corrosion. Cleaned and they still worked. Tips. Zero moisture on the plugs. Used dielectric grease to be safe. Dielectric on the spring contacts would have helped. Sealing the side holes and allow drain at the bottom would have helped. However. Beautiful uplifting. 30 bulbs and only three failed. Love it. We operate a decking company and these are used often to illuminate steps to ensure that they are up to code. I do recommend the warm light, as the natural light can feel quite bright to the eyes as you climb the steps. They are small in size, the cords are good for the steps, but you will most likely need an extension cord to get to the power source. They are low voltage, so energy efficient and weather proof. They look great. If I were to make a change, it would be that they came with a diffuser, a textured glass front or stickers so that the lights could be installed on the kick plates without blinding anyone going up stairs. It is rarely practical to install them on the sides of the steps without cords showing. In the past several years we have only had to replace a few, so the quality is nice. Well, there is almost no one else making anything like this so I have to give them props for cornering the market on step lights.

If you are looking for a great lighting effect for your deck, buy these lights. They light from 10-100% increments and are infinitely variable in between. They sit flush with my deck surface and are installed using a 15/16" hole saw. The best application is a raised deck, but as long as you can make the connections (twist-on and watertight) you can install them anywhere. Each strand can handle 20 lights in a series, and each strand requires an included transformer which is about the size of a small computer power "brick." Those plug into your 110v outlet. You could also plug them into an outdoor timer if you do not want to buy the optional ($13) remote. The light at night is fantastic and makes your deck or stairs stand out from whatever junk your neighbors bought at Home Cheapo or Nowe's. These are IP67 rated, too! Shipping was super fast. Great price. Amazon.com is having a problem in handling my large pictures, but I will post them somehow so you can see the beautiful lighting.

I bought these initially to replace bulbs that were installed before I moved into my house. These were easy to install, bright, and have lasted a long time. I've liked them so much I replaced the bulbs on the rear of my house to match. For that new set I had to get one part replaced and that was quick and easy. There are plenty of options out there but these are my go-tos and I'd recommend them to anyone drowning in choices. Buy with confidence.

What a great product. Very easy to install and wire up. I love the way the lights look. I installed these lights five years ago and recently had one burn out. I emailed the company and asked if they sold one or two replacement bulbs instead of having to buy another set of 12. They did not hesitate to send me two replacement lights, free of charge. I was not expecting that. I would’ve gladly paid for them. If you’re in the market for this type of outdoor lighting down hesitate to buy from this company!!

I just built a new deck and incorporated the SMY lights into the design. They were super easy to install and work very well. They really brighten up the back yard. My one criticism is that the cables are too short. They are advertised as 1 meter between lights which is technically true, but by the time you thread the wires through the joists, it’s much less. The lights on my deck fascia are spaced at 34” apart, but I had to extend the stock cables to get this distance. It was easy though as I used butt splice connectors and heat shrink with standard low voltage light cable from Home Depot. Overall, I highly recommend these and would definitely use these again.

Great product. Ordered the 16 light pack and have since purchased another 16. Very easy to install, no electrician required.

Great lights for the price! Very easy to install and they look great. I hope they last through the 4 seasons, they are somewhat protected under my stairs so we’ll see. The only drawback is that they can’t come apart to change a bulb, you have to undo the string of them to change one. I wanted to do the lights around the perimeter of my deck as well as my stairs but I would have to take my deck apart to change one so I had to change my lighting plans. They throw a lot more light than I thought they would, but I believe there is a dimmer available if you wanted to tone them down.
