Q: How come the multi-packs are more than the singles, per unit?

4 pack is plastic. The other one is aluminum

Q: Can you tell why the description says "280lbs Load Limit", but if you zoom in on the package it says 100lbs? Which is it?

If you're looking at the pic on the one that comes with paracord, then it's more likely the paracord's safe working load because the CamJam XT Aluminum itself is plenty strong. 550 Paracord comes in several versions and it's all about the materials in the core (typically 7 strands and 3 yarns in a nylon sheath)... The cheap-o basic Walmart "paracord" has 7 strands, is ~5/32" (4mm) thick, and has a working load listed at ~110lbs. Despite saying it's rated at 550lbs, that IS NOT the safe working load. If you have military grade 550 cord - the REAL stuff, it's the same diameter, and just use that for a very secure device that you can have confidence in... that's what I did and I've picked myself up (220lbs) with this on this (metal) version of the CamJam just to see if the cam would break off like the plastic one does. I was impressed with this and use it for a fast hammock tarp setup with snakeskins. I used to tie it up and am fast/strong with that, but, when teaching my daughters how to set up their own tarps, this was just WAY EASIER!

Q: Will these work well with paracord?

I used one with 550 paracord to hold up a 16x20 tarp over my tent. It worked great. I did tie off the loose end just in case. I want to get some of the larger size for bigger diameter rope.
