Aussie Chiller Bushie Perforated Golf Hat

Incredible durability! This hat went on my trip to Bermuda. I felt a bit odd because it is an Aussie "cowboy" hat, not a beachy hat. I also feel like one of those people who doesn't look good in hats.This hat protected my head from back-flinging branches and foliage in Thomas Moore's Jungle and the pouring rain. It was such a stereotypical "tropical rainforest" day of hiking. A tropical storm was passing away from Bermuda on the very day we hiked under the very thick foliage. (Figured that if we couldn't enjoy the beach, we might as well enjoy the jungle as it was meant to be enjoyed: with drenching rain showering bugs and thistles off of us.) The hat showed not a scratch from the leaves, branches, etc. wacking into my hat as I pushed forward.The next day the Bermuda sun was back and blistering. So, I went off to Horseshoe Bay to dip myself and even dipped this hat into the ocean! Yep. Not even when wet did this hat show discoloration, salt accumulation from the ocean dips, or any other signs of wear and tear. It kept its shape throughout!!Whether I look good in hats or not, I had a new appreciation for me in this hat! It's amazing. I think I would have preferred a larger circumference brim and a round gambler shape. I also would have liked a chin strap to hold it on my back, like a pair of glasses you remove from your face and dangle before you. I saw other people with those crushable canvas hats with mesh tops and draw cords to hold it on their heads. I liked that when they entered a store they could throw their hats back, but I had to carry mine.By the way, the elastic in this hat is also amazing. Without incurring hat head or squeezing me uncomfortably, it somehow suction cups this hat to your head. The hat rides quite high off your ears, so it is truly a bio-mechanical feat of engineering that I recommend to Amazing Feats of Science on cable. It resisted every strong gust of win and crashing ocean waves. :)

I purchased the XL size. If windy, it is just a tad loose for me (24" head measurement) but I'm guessing the L size would be too tight. I may try to add a strip of cloth within the band so it is a smidge tighter for me.On cooling, of course it is cool when flooding with ice water from the golf course jugs. When on the head awhile, it does not feel alot like a cooling effect when still wet. But it is probably cooler than my head would be with the hat on dry in the TX sun, so it probably continues to help. I bought it for the wide brim sun protection but more so for prevention of heat stress. Of course, it is mandatory to drink plenty of fluids when golfing in TX int the warm months. I do add water to it every few holes now that it is getting to be summer. I think it is a rather good idea.The hat does keep its shape nicely, dry or wet and after transport in the car, etc. There is not much headroom atop my head without hitting the hat top if I snug it down against the wind. It could stand another 1/4" height inside but not a biggie. It is lighter than you might think, when dry, but very ok.I would buy it again. I think the price is fair for the nice quality.

This was supposed to be an anniversary gift for my husband! But this is the second Aussie Chiller hat I am returning. The first order was off on the sides by 1/2-5/8" (one side higher than the other). It arrived in a box that was a bit small but we figured it would "bounce back" to shape. After my husband put it on once or twice, I realized it looked lopsided. We measured and sure enough, shoddy workmanship. Returned it and rec'd second hat today. This hat came in an EVEN SMALLER box. Said hat is uneven at the front. The braided band is glued underneath the seams so it just looks bad. The stitching is coming apart around the rim and is not well done. There are crumples all around the rim, which at first I thought were from being shoved into a TOO SMALL box! But now I realize the crumples are from poor workmanship- the stitching to hold the hat together just isn't done right. So totally disappointed in Aussie Chiller brand. Father-in-law has a nice hat he bought several years ago of this brand. This one just doesn't come close. Returning for another brand. Sadly disappointed. Husband equally disappointed.

I bought three of these hats. I live in NV, so it is getting to be in the 100*+ weather every day. I tend to burn my ears allot with a regular golf hat, so i wanted to go with something new but not "cheesy" or a "floppy" type of hat. The hat stays on my head very well as I am driving my cart to the course and the window is down. Even in most winds it stays on.The best part is when i get to the course I totally submerge the hat in a bucket of water. Soak it!! It keeps my head cool and protects my ears. Excess water running down my back feels good also. Whenever i hit the bathrooms i soak it again under the drinking fountain or the water bucket on the course. I have no complaints, plus I make this hat look really good as well.

This hat is very nice and fits well. My hat size is 7 1/2 (head is pretty much right at 23.5 inches; 23 1/4 in measure tightly and 23 7/8 measured loosely). I order the Tan in XL and it fits me perfectly. I imagine the Large would fit tighter and might be better in strong winds, but I'm sure it would give me a headache after a while. Hopefully my explanation will help those, like myself, who are right between sizes. When in doubt, go bigger and get hat sizer strips. The quality of the hat is nice, but the color is slightly more dull than it appears in the pictures (my tan hat looks in between the colors of the Tan and the Beige hats as shown in the pictures). I actually like the lighter color though, so yay me. As for the perforations, not all of them were fully punched out, like others have posted, but taking 30 minutes to fix that is only a slight inconvenience. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hat. Feels great on my head and, as my 3yr old son said: "Awesome daddy!"

This hat is for my husband who perspires a lot when he plays golf or is outside working or boating. This hat is amazing and has really helped cool him down. Thanks Aussie Chiller! We just might order another!
