Brilliant razor, can’t fault it!
I don’t usually do reviews but I had to make an exception for this amazing Braun Series 7 Electric Shaver. I never thought I would find anything better than a good old fashioned wet shave but after a lifetime of thinking electric razors couldn’t give a decent close shave I now have to eat my words. First thing you notice with this razor is the build quality, it looks and feels like a top end product and the high quality travel case adds to this impression. That said, it’s an expensive German engineered razor so you’d expect it to exude quality, right! Obviously what really counts is performance so after a quick battery charge I put it to the test. Let’s just say it waded through my 5 day stubble with ease and without any pulling or discomfort even on the ‘intensive’ setting. Yes, I had to go over the throat area a few times but the whole shave took less than 5 minutes and the end result was smooth and comfortable. There was no irritation during or after. To sum up, this is an excellent razor - the price tag may put some people off, but I would say you get what you pay for. Five stars all the way!

Great for sensitive skin (goodbye shaver spots) and battery lasts forever
As headline states, this shaver is excellent for those with sensitive skin and cant pull of a wet shave without having a patchy rash on their neck and half a million spots, i had to give up wet shaving for good, switched to this... it was a godsend, neck has healed up, the battery on the shaver has lasted for like 2 months so far, still going strong, very easy to clean. a good weight, not too heavy, but you can feel is well built. the trimmer is a nice touch too, and you can use it when wet or dry. for any lads with sensitive skin like me, put the wet shaver down and buy one of these bad boys.

Don't throw away your razor
Beautifully designed and probably one of the best of its kind.. but ultimately it still can't compete with a wet shave - despite the adverts showing a chap drawing lines through his stubble. You just can't do that! You have to run it back and forth repeatedly and even then it never gets everything. I think it actually ends up taking longer than lathering up and shaving properly, which is surely the whole point?!So, what I've found is:1. Not bad if you want a light de-stubbling everymorning and don't want to get wet (maybe you don't have access to a sink) and aren't too fussy about finish. Definitely less irritation than regular wet shave BUT I'm suspicious that going against the grain (as you have to) causes problems after.2. Fantastic if you use it wet, with soap, and THEN drag a razor across afterwards. I've actually found this is the best shave you can get. You get the gentle, irritation-free massagey-ness of electric AND the clean perfection of a traditional wet shave. Seems to give a much better finish too.Excellent build quality and battery life. Only comes with a shaving plug charger. Probably worth getting a kit with the cleaning station as it's more expensive to buy separate.

Smooth shaves wet or dry, no skin irritation, fiddly to clean
What a pleasant surprise. I have always worried about not having a wet shave the old fashioned way. The Brain 7 series is a revelation. Easy to hold with different settings and a very close shave. I have quite a hard stubble and this works through it without any issue. Leaves the skins feeling smooth. Charge holds well. My only issue is that it is slightly fiddly to clean but that is a minor nag. Would definitely recommend especially if it is on a lighting deal

Brilliant shaver
Where to start, I had one of these a few years ago and upgraded to the series 9, also a great shaver, however the head was larger and I found it took longer to shave, missed bits so I regretted the change, the series 7 was on special offer so I bought 2 so that I am set for many years to come, it really outperforms the series 9, great smooth shave. The trimmer is also better than the series 9 as it flips out and is easier to use. Both are brilliant shavers but the series 7 is my personal favourite.

Best shaver on the market
Quite simply, this shaver is the best shaver I have ever owned. I have had most of the Braun seires of shavers up to and including series 9. Don't waste your money paying over the odds for series 8 & 9 when series 7 is the better shaver. Great close irritation free shave which has great battery life and easy to clean. Don't waste your money on the expensive cleaning station and the even more expensive cartridges. Hot water and the supplied brush is all you need.

Good shave. beware the battery life is worse than the silver 7900c3 version
Have been using the Series 7 for over 7 years now. There are various iterations (with/without cleaning station, black vs silver, and with various status indicators. The 7842s is good at shaving, but worse in battery life than 7900c3. The lcd status indicator in the 7900c3 is also more intuitive. While Braun is generally decent in recent years their product coding is not clear. For example the battery life of above products should be similar and clearly marked but in my experience its not. Similarly their top of the range toothbrushes are marketed in such a confusing way that you cant get your head around it (see the triumph/genius range and the confusing and often misleading numbering of these toothbrushes).Neverltheless these are good quality products, just there is no reasonable transparency in their range.

One tiny flaw
Fabulous shaver. Not too noisy and nice tone. Shaves close with no damage. Lock on the head enables clean shave under the nose. Effective trimmer facility with easy access/use. Easy to clean. Excellent hard protective travel container rather than a silly cap on the foil which always falls of in the dolly bag. All ways up a great feel to it. The tiny flaw? It comes with a European two pin plug to the charger lead. This does not fit my shaver point in the bathroom and obviously not the wall plugs. The solution is to spend around £13 on a Europe/UK adapter plug - you can proably find cheaper. Worth doing to get this great shaver at an alleged massive discount. Mike Powell
