Sony Jordan: the Comeback

Supremely crafted work by Paddy McAloon
1990's 'Jordan: The Comeback' is a lovely collection of 19 tracks and weighs in at a mighty 64 minutes in length. Although 'Jordan' is regarded as a concept album I suspect that only the marvellous Paddy McAloon, the wizard of composition, can fully explain what the concept is. Anyway, lovers of beautifully crafted pop music, encompassing a wide variety of different styles, should really enjoy this highly imaginative LP. Recommended.

Big work, small impact
The Sprout go proper 80s pop, over the course of what used to called a 'double album'. Of course, the songs are the work of Paddy McAloon, so there some truly sublime moments. And some of it sounds like Dollar.

The Promised Land
Jordan is a songwriting/recording tour de force. When Paddy Macaloon is inspired he writes, when he composed this he wrote to inspire. On J.T.C. Paddy lets loose on a range of conspiracy theories, theological debates and serious eccentricities - and that's just the lyrics! Musically literate; the composers arrangements are often sublime and his studio nous leaves your ears straining to catch whats going on deep in the mix. As someone once remarked 'each song has 3 more ideas trying to get out'.So whats the category? Classic pop I guess

I thought I would have Paddys masterpiece on CD as I have a small crackle on my original vinyl.
