Great Saddle Pad
I do not usually leave reviews and I am not sure this will even be a complete review of the OrthoRide but this has made such a difference, I honestly had just wanted to tell people. I have been riding since I was a little girl and now that I am, well never mind, I think I have tried doing just about every event you can think of with a horse. I have gone through periods of buying the latest and greatest tack for each horse etc. Now a-days I know what works and I stick with it pretty much. But if I learned anything it is that each horse is built different and I use different tools for the job. But saddles are just flipin expensive and honestly I want to be comfortable myself when I ride so there are really only two saddles that I have been using 90% of the time. They fit better on some horses then they do on others. WELL my favorite horse paid the price, I noticed that she was getting white hair spots at her withers. If you don’t know that is caused by poor fitting saddles digging into the horses’ shoulders with the saddle bars. This is a flashing red light that your saddle doesn’t fit and hasn’t for a while.I started saddle shopping and planned on writing a good check with several 0’s to get a comfy saddle that wasn’t going to take a year to break-in like the one I love now. I had read something in a magazine about the OrthoRide saddle pad and that it was for poor fitting saddles. So I found it for less here on Amazon and tried it, as I knew I could return it if it didn’t work.So I guess this is finally the review part. You know it seems to do exactly what it says. It fills in the gap under the saddle bars and raises the saddle up level. There is this bump of padding right where the saddle bars were making contact on my girl. She seems to be more comfortable, no she didn’t tell me but I can tell be the way she carries me that she is lighter in her movement.Update: I have had many rides with this pad and it has definitely made a difference. The pad looks like new still and is easy to clean. My girlfriend bought one and uses it all the time also. I would try this before changing saddles. Unless money is no object.

I've waited a bit to review this saddle pad as ...
Updated review 2020: I bought this pad back in 2016. For everyone concerned with longevity - this pad is still rocking! No tears, no loose seams, no compression.I've waited a bit to review this saddle pad as I wanted to make sure that I gave it enough use to form an opinion- OMG my mare loves it! She has a downhill confirmation and my barrel saddle just a bit too wide for her. This pad works exactly as I had hoped- it lifts the saddle up off her scapula and makes it more level on her back. She now has even sweat marks after a long ride and the spine is completely dry.The first time I put it on her, she instantly began to lick and chew- success!! If you're on the fence about trying this pad, buy it. My only gripe is that it currently comes in one size only. The customer service person advised that they are working on coming out with more sizes and shapes in the future.

Infamous Dry Spots
My mare has recently developed a stubborn dry spot on one side. I have been testing out different thickness saddle pads to try to resolve this pressure point. I thought I’d give this saddle pad a try, but the pressure point was worse with this pad.The pad itself is just okay. Upon opening the box I noticed that the pad is rather thin and very easy to compress. The support for the saddle just isn’t there.

Mixed feelings
I love this pad but have some concerns.I love how it frees up my geldings shoulders & takes that pressure off his withers. No more discomfort for him on the withers & turning him into a free runner. The pad feels great to me too as the rider. My concerns are with the longevity.Like some said the stitching isn't great & it really worries me that there isn't an outside stitch on the pad especially with it being layered.IMO if it starts to separate the pad's going to be shot. But there is sposed to be a one year quality guarantee

Good quality, gets the job done
My horse is so happy with this pad! She has a minor sway back, so getting a saddle to fit her properly can be a challenge. In any saddle I’ve tried on her, we always had issues with saddle slip. This pad has totally corrected that, and my saddle is now staying exactly where it needs to be on her back. It’s very well made, and compared to similar pads this one is a fantastic value.

It's Not Holding Up Well
The gel pads work great but the felt is bunching up after just a few rides. I've never had a saddle pad do this. In about six months I expect that there won't be much felt left. This pad is much lighter than I expected for the price.

Holds up great, quality pad
Ordered this for our 26 year old mare, use it for all of our horses now. Holds up great! Best quality I’ve seen. Renewed riding for our old lady, who wants to ride. I’ll be buying another this year for our others.

Finally!
Finally got the pad she needed so she doesn't get sore! I think it was the third try of expensive, high quality pads. She's a foundation-bred, kinda smallish Quarter horse, who is rather out of shape even though naturally a very athletic horse. She is preforming MUCH better with it. Now if I can only keep her out of kick fights. . . .
