Holy Grail Status
Once I figured out how to easily insert these, they were golden -- the holy grail of earplugs. I have tried lots of brands, including the waxy cotton types that you massage before using, which are considered to have the highest rating as far as noise protection. They have the same noise blocking capacity but much easier to insert and more comfortable to wear. It took me a while to figure out how to use these. I almost gave up on these because I was having trouble inserting them correctly. I found the trick through reading a comment here. You have to wet the tip. I keep a little plastic bottle of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide on my bed stand. I put a few drops of the peroxide in one palm, use my other hand to roll the tip of the earplug into a narrow shape, dip the tip into the peroxide, and slide the plug into my ear canal. Moistening the tip makes all the difference in ease of using these! The soft foam then expands in the canal and you can literally hear the noise turn off, like a switch, as it reaches its full width. I have a air purifier that runs during the night and is fairly noisy. It is about five feet from my bed. After I put in these earplugs, I can't hear this appliance at all, despite its close proximity. Because these are soft and on the lighter side, they are easy to sleep with them in. And depending on personal preference, you can reuse before switching to a new pair. In short, these are really worth a try if you're looking for an outstanding sleeping earplug.

Great earplugs!
My wife and I went on a long trip abroad, including a long cruise. She snores and I'm a very light sleeper. Normally, at home I sleep with a loud fan going. On the trip, however, we didn't have the fan. I've used all sorts of earplugs in the past with disappointing results. I decided to give the Howard Leight Ll1 Lite Foam Earplugs a try. I'm really glad I did. They performed better than any earplugs I've ever used. Actually, they're pretty amazing! I followed the preparation and insertion instructions on the package (they're easy, but important to follow), and once they're inserted I could hear the earplugs expanding in my ear canal. Once fully expanded, I felt isolated from a sound perspective. It's like turning the volume control to mute! The only problem I encountered was after using them for a couple of weeks, I could tell that they were compacting the earwax in my ears and my ears were popping when I swallowed. I decided to experiment with the earplugs to see if I could keep them from causing the earwax issues. These earplugs are unusually thick and long compared to other earplugs I've used. (They're made of very soft material, so they're very comfortable to wear.) I took a pair of scissors and cut off about 1/8" to 1/4" from the tips of the earplugs, and I cut off a sliver from the side of each earplug. The earwax problem went away without adversely affecting the sound-deadening properties of the earplugs. I was very happy with the results. I recommend these earplugs. They're really effective!

Best Ear Plugs, from an Ear Plugs Veteran
I don't often write reviews but this product demands it. I have been using ear plugs for over fifteen years, from military use, home use, and motorcycle riding. I went through many different kinds and brands of ear plugs, from the cheapest foam ones to fancy custom molded ones. I first tried the Howard Leight Laser Light about five years ago, and was immediately impressed. They seem beefy, but they are very easy to insert into the ear, and they feel very comfortable once inside, without causing any pressure. My wife and I both use them, she has much smaller ear canals than I do but they fit her very well too. I can easily ear them for long hours, including sleeping with them at night or going on long motorcycle rides, and forget they're there. In terms of noise reduction, they reduce more noise than any other ear plugs I've tried but they have great attenuation, so you can still have a conversation or hear traffic while using them. Overall, I think these are the best ear plugs I've tried out of the many different types I've used so far in my life, and I will continue using them as long as they are manufactured.

Effective and Comfortable
I’ve ordered these many times. Very soft and they stay in place without causing any pain. Reduce sound significantly. One pair usually lasts more than a week.

Larger than the older version but still good
These are without doubt the most comfortable earplugs I've ever used. I have inexplicably small ear canals considering my very large head, and these fit pretty well. They don't make my ears sore overnight like most earplugs do. They're very good at sound dampening, and reusable. However, they are a bit bigger than this exact same model number was a few years ago, and they don't fit my ears as well as they used to. They still fit reasonably well, but they do not slide as far into the ear canal and therefore do not provide quite as much sound dampening as in the past. Still recommend them highly, especially if you have sensitive ears. They are high quality, and definitely worth the money.

Wish the color were more subtle
I've been using earplugs for decades. I even use them during the day as I am very sensitive to noise. I always used Mack but suddenly as I got older I started having problems. I developed severe ear infections that put me in the urgent clinic several times. I finally figured out it was the total blockage that was letting bacteria build up especially if I went to bed (with earplugs) straight after a shower. These are the only earplugs that don't hurt my ears now. I will get an infection almost instantly with any other brand. These are very lightweight and while they do NOT block out as much noise as I would like; they are much safer for me. You have to really work with them to get a good fit and one time one of them stuck to my tympani membrane and that hurt pulling it out. So I don't put them all the way in deep now. Getting old sucks. Earplugs can be very dangerous and infections can be difficult to treat. One time I ended up in Dr. office as I couldn't get the mack out! He sent me to an ear specialist, so scary! I am staying on the safe side and use these every night now and even at the grocery store (way too noisy for me there). Just wish the color were more subtle. I hope this information is helpful to others.

Great for tiny ear canals, blocks a LOT of noise!
These are so squishy and wonderful! They squish down to a very tiny size and insert so easily, then fill up quickly and painlessly. I have tiny ear canals and have pain with almost every ear bud, so I was really nervous to get so many at once, but these are perfect. I wore them on several 5-hour cross country flights without any problems, and have had no problems with overnight use in noisy hotels. They really block out a lot of sound! I stayed in a hotel near the San Diego airport with flights crossing right over my hotel and slept really well, and also had a screaming 9-year old on a long flight that I could almost block out enough to focus on work and reading a book. You could get multiple uses out of them if you want to. I tend to just toss mine after one use, but they do stay soft for many days even after you use them. I've had this bag for almost two months now and they are still really soft. I put them in a ziploc after I opened the initial bag, hoping to preserve them for longer.

Not in 2 packs as shown in photo.
I ordered 50 pairs of these Howard leight laser lite earplugs. They are the most comfortable kind I've found. The photo shows 2 plugs in the plastic pouch as they usually come. They arrived as just 100 loose earplugs in a bag. This is very inconvenient as usually I would have a couple packs stashed around in case I need a pair, or put a pack in my pocket if I'm visiting a plant where I'll need them. Now I have to find a container to put some in, it doesn't fit in my pocket. I don't want loose earplugs in my pocket... Just be honest with description photos... smh. No complaints on the earplugs themselves.

Ben ben content ! Dave Qc.

I've been using this brand for many years. But ...
I've been using this brand for many years. But these don't seem to be the same as the ones I usually use - despite the packaging. They are slightly smaller, softer and don't block out noise as well - I'd say about 75% as effective as what I've used before. Not sure how or why these are different.
