READ THIS FIRST!
DON'T READ OTHER REVIEWS IF YOU LIVE I TEA EAST COAST SOUTH! I live in Central NC (Greensboro NC) 5/1/25 I saw my first black snake in the two years that I have been living here. I love black (king) snakes! They will get rid of all of the poisonous snakes! They are completely harmless! I love black snakes for what they do, but I don’t like snakes at all!! SO READ THIS! I bought this product to spray around the borders of my townhouse. So here are some REALLY helpful tips! - So when hooking up to your water hose, do make sure that the bottle is in the OFF position! Yes, mine was! - Once you turn it to the ON position and the water is on, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE TIGHTLY HOLDING ONTO THE HOSE AND THE BOTTLE WITH EACH HAND! (Ie: left hand on hose, right hand on bottle… Or reverse if you are left-handed!!) If you are not holding it tightly, you will get sprayed in the face! That bottle will whip around straight into your face! - Thankfully it is natural! Surprisingly, when it hit you in the eyes, it really doesn’t burn that much! And on the face, no, really doesn’t burn that much! I cannot give you an update as to whether or not this chased the snakes away, but I can’t tell you that I smell like a giant stick of Big Red gum! I will give you an update in the next one to two weeks as whether or not I see any more snakes! Have a great day!

Pretty good
Pretty Good product but not as spicy or smell isn’t as potent as a different brand with Red color bottle that I’ve used in the past from Home Depot . The other one had more of a stronger pepper sprayish smell mixed with other smells which is supposed to deter snakes from area.

I Think It's Helped
It is easy and quick to use. I found the material in the bottle does not "go a long ways" meaning you need to have a good idea of the area you wish to cover with the spray and then move along as you are spraying. What I've not known is how much "residual" effect available with a single application....hours, days - or whatever. The best I can say is I think it's been OK and given it's pretty reasonable cost I'm not disappointed.

I used to LOVE the cinnamon smell of Snake Stopper, now it smells like nasty old oil
I've been buying Snake Stopper for my 4 acres in the foothills of Yosemite since my Yorkie got bit by a baby rattler in 2012. I've had tremendous results with the product, keeping the snakes away from my fenced yards and out in the dead grasses where they can hunt undisturbed. But, sometime this year they changed the formulation. Instead of my perimeter smelling amazing after I finished spraying, there's now a sharp, old oil smell that is pretty unpleasant. I'm going to be looking for something else now. Snake Stopper works by creating smells that a snakes sensory glands don't want to cross. Which means when you first start, you need to keep your perimeter small, and enlarge it every year to make sure you don't trap snakes inside the perimeter you want to live in. Also, if you already have snakes in an underground (think deck or raised patio) area, you need to give them a way to escape the first years or you'll have permanent residents. Snake Stopper is safe for pets, kids and even snakes. It is not safe for tender green plants. It even singed my rosemary. Note: if you have cats (like mine) you can still get snakes inside your perimeter. Squidward is giving a good example of how

Totally ineffective
Zero stars. Used the first bottle as directed. Sprayed all around foundation where a couple of black runners were getting in the home’s brick weep holes. Sprayed at least a gallon in the two weep poles, snakes back next day in the weep holes. Four days later can still smell the faint odor of the cloves and cinnamon, but still completely ineffective.

It seems to work. Other neighbours have had snakes in their yards but we have not.
It is a reasonable price. The odour is not overpowering for humans. It is easy to use. No mixing required. The delivery is quite rapid. The price is reasonable. I will keep using it.

Messy to use
They shouldn't have called it "spray", it's false advertising. It's not spray, I wish it was. All you are after is that ingredient and its smell. So why to mix it with water? What for? Very messy to use, the drops inevitably land on your hands and cloth and then strong smell will stick with you even after washing your hands many times.
