Question 1

What is the length, the width and height.  I need 16 x 14 x 12.

Accepted Answer

Empty dimensions:  17.5" width; 7" depth; 14" height.This is primarily for carrying your laptop and paperwork.  It has served me well for business but I switch to a backpack when I need to carry more than normal, or for personal travel.

Question 2

I'm looking for something that can hold a 15.6 inch dell precision, usb external hard drive, camera, and other smaller misc items.  is this my bag?

The bag worked fine for the first year or so.  It holds my 15.6 inch Dell and accessories but I don't carry a camera in it.  With a camera, especially a larger unit, things might start getting crowded.  However, after I had it for some time, the handle when being raised from the case kept sticking and not extending fully.  Thus, many times I have to retract the handle all the way in and pull it back out several times for it to extend all the way out.  This is very annoying.  I'm not as happy with it currently as I was when I originally purchased it.

Question 3

Will my laptop measuring 15"x10" fit? As the screen is correctly measured on the diagonal, it is 17.5.

Yes, I have the Lenovo G780 -  17.3 inch and it fits.  There are two compartments,one that is meant to hold the laptop and another.  My computer does not fit in the one made for the laptop, but fits great in the other one.  My computer is heavy, so it works out perfect putting it in the back compartment, otherwise, putting it in the front laptop compartment, because of it's weight, it would fall over, unless you had heavy files in the back compartment.  Hope you can understand what I am talking about.I love the bag

Does the leather need to be treated for waterproofing before use?

Good question.  I purchased this item for my husband. If it were mine, I would definitely spray the leather with a good waterproofing product. Bass makes an excellent product which I use on leather and patent shoes and bags. Hope this info helps.
