Safariland Comp III Speedloader, Black, Fits J-K2S: Dan Wesson .38/357

It's going to take some practice to get used to this new style of speedloader (moving away from the HKS model 10's I've used for years), but I can already see the benefit of this press-down release style over the "twist" release style of the HKS. I bought two of this model and a couple of the COMP II shorter models as well. Both will have their specific purpose. Compared to the HKS, loading up these Safariland speedloaders can take a second or two longer, but there's no comparison that simply pressing down onto the cylinder is the more natural movement as opposed to the less efficient "twist" knob of the HKS. To add efficiency in loading the speedloaders, I also purchased Safariland's J-KTR loading block. It's a very helpful concept and I think well worth it's price.

Very user friendly and easy to learn on, fairly inexpensive, and have a very positive lockup and engagement . If you have fatter wooden grips on your revolver it may be harder to operate but it still works .

I've used every speedloader available on the market: Safariland Comp I and II, HKS (Five Stars work the same), Jet Loaders, SL Variant, and Speed Beez. The Safariland Comp III towers over all in performance and ease of use. Injection is more positive than its closest competitor (Jet Loader) because holding the Comp III by the sleeve over the spring allows the loader to send the full force of the spring against the revolver's cylinder. No other spring loaded loader has that sleeve, wasting some of the spring force against your hand. I use them both for competition and concealed carry. They are no bulkier than a double stack semi auto's magazine and its rounded contours make it far less conspicuous and far less likely to snag on clothing than the squared edges of a magazine.

Best revolver speedloader I've used. Pricey but well worth it. Need some practice to learn how to actually add ammo , then lock them, into the loader, so be forewarned. After that, easy squeezy! Difficult to find reasonably priced belt pouches to hold them, but you can use a vest or pants pocket in a pinch. Mine are for .38 special/.357 magnum, so can't speak to other caliber versions!

Bought some of these for the girl friend who is learning handguns. I let her try the comp II and the comp III. She quickly decided that the comp III was excellent and now has no use at all for the comp II. Fun note: I started out by giving her 4 comp II's, fully loaded. When we got home I asked her where the speed, loaders were. Turns out she threw them in the trash with the empty brass! She thought they were expendable.

Tried it out on my old Colt Python and my new Python, works great. a little easier and much faster then the HKS speed loaders. I am buying more.

I've decided to buck the system and go to revolvers for primary carry. With this decision, one has to consider pro and cons. One con of the revolver is reloading speed. Like with any handgun owner, I have a pile of holsters. With that same due diligence, I now have a pile of speedloaders, strips, etc. I pretty much bought at least one of everything (except Speed Beez) looking for 'the one'. I made my own holder, which makes it easier to conceal and, with the Comp III, am able to reload my revolver almost as fast as I can my single stack 9mm pistols. Much faster than any of the other reloader vendors or methods I've tried to date. Because of the operation, you are much less dependent on gravity, making it easier to reload in unusual positions...gravity is still gravity. I do, however, also carry a strip for top offs. For competition...this style or moon clips are the only way to go.

Seems to work as it should. Time will tell if it holds up. Only gave 3 star rating because the one I was sent was obviously one that had been previously returned and scotch taped back closed and was missing the instructions. I messed around with it and figured out myself how it worked though and it doesn't seem to be defective.

Hold it in one hand to load bullets, palm the bullets in the loader, and twist the top part down and to the right until it clicks,about a 1/4 inch. You are DOne! To load, simply press down into the cylinder holding the middle of the unit, and Click! DOne! Revolver lovers should grab a few..light weight but not at all flimsy; glad I got 4!
