works great, my first one lasted 7 yrs but got hit with lightning. bought another to replace it. using as dump controller for my 24v, 1.5kW wind turbine, to a water heater element rated for 2 kW,

I was fairly impressed at first with the drilled holes in the back of this unit, however, I was soon disappointed when I found out I could not tighten the screws with the unit in place! So I found myself having to back the screws up a little so there was enough room between the unit and the head of the screw. If this sounds complicated, it's not. It's just a little frustrating, and a first impression.The unfortunate side effect is that the unit ends up a tad loose at the top, so I was afraid it might come off the wall and fall to the floor. Luckily, I found smaller drilled holes at the bottom that I was in fact able to tighten while the unit was in place!The bolts at the bottom that hold the wires are decent, although a little different because the + wire for both the battery and the pv panel are on the left, and the - wires go on the right.There is very little feedback from the single flashing LED status light, indicating how close the battery is to fully charged, for example, but I knew this going into it.It seemed to get my 2 golf batteries closer to fully charged (from say 85% to 95%) in a few hours of only semi-decent sun.Once I have more to report, I will edit this review.

more features..less dollars. i am about to finish the installation. the one i bought and was sold by amazon failed. no instructions ever even when asked. this one had COMPLETE AND COMPREHENSIVE INSTRUCTIONS. SURE BEATS THE JUNK I BOUGHT FROM YOU FOR A HUNDRED BUCKS. I WAS LEERY OF EVEN BUYING ONE THROUGH YOU BUT I AM HAPPY WITH THIS ONE. THE ONE I GOT FROM YOU HAD A PART RATTLING AROUND IN IT. SHORTED IT OUT. I WILL GIVE YOU A BETTER ANSWER NEXT WEEK WHEN IT'S UP AND RUNNING.

I like this product, hasn't give me any problems at yet. One thing I wish I had the money for a MPPT, but this is fine for now. Good thing it can handle 60amps which for the amps and price this product is, is actually good $$.

I have three of these controllers now, two at our remote cabin running two seperate arrays in parallel to the same battery bank, and one at our home for our small DC only system. They are not as efficient as the new MPPT models, as such I don't think Xantrex makes the PWM model like this anymore, but many are still on mail order house shelves. They are extremely reliable and control voltage much better than the cheaper models on other order house websites. Installed our first one 21 years ago, still works great today.

Product seems to work as advertised. Output LOAD seems to fluctuate and not be constants. I need to sort this out.

Works just as advertised. I have a 50+ amp solar array and this does the trick. Although, for some reason the controller turns off when the batteries are fully charged via an external source (other than the solar). I have a circuit breaker on the power side to this controller and have to toggle it to reset the controller after fully charging the batteries with my inverter. If I don't do that, the controller remains off and the panels don't charge the batteries. Maybe I just need to set the max voltage limit higher in the controller....

I purchased this controller for a new solar install based on the good performance I've had with the C40 on another install for the past 8 years. I can use #6AWG wire with this controller. Its a basic controller that does the job. Will buy again if needed.
