Cat crack
We have a pair of fairly muscular and very active Siberians. For health reasons, we've never fed them Friskas or other empty carb food, choosing protein and fat over filler grains; wet food or raw over dry. They've never had a weight problem and are reasonably good eaters, except for being so stinking fussy! Today's pheasant becomes tomorrow's peasant - yet something else to turn our exquisite little noses up at. Consequently we're always looking for new and interesting food choices.Maybe it's the forest cat in them, but they've always preferred the exotic and expensive. Why eat chicken when they could eat duck, salmon, venison or - their very VERY favorite - bunny! The main problem being that bunny can be hard to come by and raw is a pain in the butt while travelling. They've never really liked dehydrated or freeze dried food except for Cat-Man-Doo's dehydrated salmon - for years the only snack they would deign to touch. Then we found Vital Essentials' freeze dried bunny treats, which apparently taste delicious *and* skitter when thrown across a tile floor. (Prey that both skitters and can be eaten is one of our favorite things.)But as much as they love it, you're not supposed to just feed them treats. Which is why I was thrilled when they came out with the mini nibs in bunny flavor. It's not cheap, but it is lightweight, easy to carry, and delicious. In truth, I doubt we'd ever feed them just this, but it's nice that we can. It has good fat, organ meat and plenty of protein. Unlike most freeze-dried or dehydrated food, it's crunchy and a little hard. My cats seem to like it that way and prefer me not to rehydrate it. In truth, we're now feeding them Vital Essentials frozen bunny patties (which they adore) on a regular basis, but still bring these along as a (much) easier treat or meal if we take them out for the day. (Or just throw them a handful to pounce on when we're cooking dinner and want them out of the kitchen.) They do get tired of it if we give it to them too often (just like everything else) but it has become a pantry staple for my very picky eaters.

Godsend for my sensitive cat!
My Sphynx kitten has an extremely sensitive stomach and is allergic to poultry, beef, and likely salmon. I went through trials of all brands/types of kibble including Instinct Rabbit kibble and Freely rabbit kibble. He was still allergenic with stinky poop, even after omitting the proteins he's allergic too. I ran out of kibble one day and just gave him the rabbit version of this as his "kibble" for 3 days. His eyes began to clear and his poop stopped stinking immediately. I never went back to regular kibble, and he is doing so much better now! While this is incredibly expensive, it's definitely worth it. I only leave this out for him when I am gone all day at work. Otherwise, he eats high quality wet food a few times per day to ensure that his water intake is adequate.

Crunchy and cats love it
Simple ingredients, cats go crazy for it. It is crunchy but not dry, so they could eat it as it comes but I add a tablespoon of water to a 1/4 cup serving. I am not ashamed to say I tried a couple of nuggets and I could eat it everyday, it's that good. But I'm not going to 'cause even though some bacteria can't survive without moisture, others can do just fine for months without water. So if you dont have a strong immune system dont go eating cat food (unless you're giving them top dollar sardines, then go ahead and have a few).

Cats love this freeze-dried rabbit food!
I supplement each meal with a handful of these pellets. They are meat and organs and bone so very nutritious. Tried another brand but chunks instead of pellets so large I had to crumble each chunk. Cats really gobble them up. Only rabbit.

We have cats, not lions.
Though they may think they're like their larger cousins, our indoor and semi-feral outdoor cats canNOT crunch, chew or otherwise consume the rather large and very sharp bone pieces in these nibs. They tried at first, but even when our outdoor rabbit hunter spit pieces out and has refused to eat the bits I've checked for bone, I know this literally isn't going down well. Because this is way too expensive to just toss (and I'm conscious of the bunnies who gave their lives for this food) I've taken to running small amounts through a mini food processor to try and pulverize what I can from the nibs. I use a mesh strainer to get what amounts to a little bit of powder, add warm water and serve as a treat. It works, but is far too labor intensive for the price and the purpose of getting this form of food. Though most of the ingredients are excellent, the bone and other very hard pieces in these nibs pose way too much of a danger to our fur babies, so I cannot recommend this specific form of Vital Essentials food.

A lot of work but quality
I think it’s quality food- my cats had a hard time getting used to the texture so I would add it to a can of cat food, some hot water and put in blender- they typically would lap it up happily then. 3 stars bcos of texture/ hardness

Great for cats who won't eat anything but dry food
This food is great for traveling or keeping in an emergency kit. It will rehydrate, but it takes a while and some effort. Even when it's rehydrated, it still retains some of the "crunch," which is why I think it is a really good option for cats who refuse to eat anything but kibble (which is not good for their health).

Great Food for Cats!
We use these as treats for our cat who is suffering from IBD/cancer and is on chemo and steroids. We also grind them up into a powder to sprinkle on his wet food to entice him to eat. A bit expensive, but worth it!

My cats love this
I grind these nibs up in a food processor, then rehydrate the powder with water a few minutes before serving, to make a wet cat food. The nibs are also a favorite served as is for a treat.
