Ming Fern(Asparagus macowanii). Despite its name, the ming fern is a flowering plant and not a fern at all. It produces white flowers in the spring to early summer. It is in the same genus as the edible cultivated perennial vegetable, Asparagus officinalis. Ming Ferns do well in full sun as well as shaded locations. A native to arid regions of South Africa, this is a very drought tolerant plant. It can reach a height of 4-6′ when grown in the ground, but can also be grown in containers to achieve a much smaller plant. It is an excellent house plant.

Dead
Update, I discovered bugs in the plant a little too late. It freaking died. Ugh.Gorgeous plant, I had one as a kid and never knew the name, took me 20 years to find it, really brings back memories. However, it did have mold on the bottom, now I wonder if I should repot it asap but don't wanna stress it out.

Gorgeous plant received in great condition!
I was so pleased with the asparagus fern from Hirts! It came well packaged and the pot was wrapped in plastic to retain it's moisture. The plant was about 6" tall and VERY bushy, and it sent up two new shoots the first week I got it! I will definately order more houseplants from Hirts.

Do you want a happier room?
Arrived healthy and happy. It’s been such a success over the last ten months I’ve repotted twice. It’s at least quadrupled in volume, see picture of current size. I enjoyed it so much I sent one from this same seller to my mum, hers is doing great as well! Can recommend Ming Fern, everyone loves how jolly the plant makes the room feel.
