Is this product simple for a just turned 5 year old i did mean to purchase the age 5-10 range but have gotten this one age 7-12 by mistake?

Yes, my son has been playing with Knex since the age of 5. We have brought several different items which were supposedly for 7+ and he has managed to do them by following the instructions or using his own imagination.
