Good Leader Material for the $
Just as good as any other fluorocarbon leader material I have ever bought and the price is way better.

The spool is a pain, but it's half the price and works great
I just bought a second reel of this. I bought the first one skeptically and was pleased with the results. This will not fit onto a standard tippet spool, but if you're willing to trade a bit of convenience for the price, I've found it to work just fine.

Good alternative to expensive fluoro
I bought this fluoro for the price and I am impressed. I have bought about a dozen spools since. I have fished this 5x all over the states from NC to Yellowstone and it has performed well. No need to over pay for good tippet material.

I have long been aware that there are multiple "Premium" brands that share the same manufacturing plant overseas. I'm a cyclist and outdoors person, so whether its a carbon fiber road bike or a fly fishing product or a back pack, I know it's the label that often dictates the premium price of a product. With that being said, the Maxcatch leader is made in JAPAN, the quality if the leader and the packaging is top tier. I ordered 3X, 4X, and 5X and could not be more pleased.

Not Really 5x - Closer to 4X
The most important factor of tippet material is its diameter. The sizing system baselines at 11 thousands of an inch and decreases by the numerical value of the rated tippet. True 5x tippet is 6 thousands of an inch in diameter (11-5=6). This tippet is not 0.006 inches in diameter, it is 0.0068, which is very nearly 0.007 - and 7 thousands of an inch diameter is normally called 4x tippet (11-4=7).Other than the misleading sizing it appears to be a fine product. I would have given it 5 stars had it followed the sizing convention for tippet.

Inexpensive fluorocarbon tippet - good for fishing streamers and other wet flies, and the price is right.

Substantially worse than bigger brands
Pros:-Price-Caught fishCons:-Thicker than other 5x I have. This tippet likes to float and sinks slowly, even with a 2 nymph + splitshot rig. Would not recommend for euro nymphing.-Not invisible at all- I could see several feet of tippet going down into the water. I came home and tested some line in a glass of clear water and it's completely visible.-Knot strength is poor. I've fished 3 times with this line and already lost 2 flies just casting because the knot came undone. I've tied the improved clinch knot hundreds of times and never had that issue with other tippet. At this rate, I'll lose about 10 flies by the time I use up all this tippet, which more than offsets the cost of buying higher quality.
