This device coupled with a solar bank to charge it means an unlimited ignition source for lighting tinder to build a fire to BBQ or a strip of paper to light candles or a fire to boil water. When I received it, I charged it and it immediately worked and I thought it was a cool little tool. In the 2.5 years since, it's proven not to be. It went from sparking (on the lighter end) and shining (on the flashlight end) after that first charge to being put away for a couple months and then never again sparking or shining. I've tried to charge and use it periodically since then, most recently today. Today, the red charging light came on while I plugged it in, but the lighter just got warm / hot to the touch and never even pretended to work. Same as it's done every time since that first. This is a piece of junk novelty. I wouldn't rely on this thing to light a candle in my house or a fire in my backyard, let alone go camping with it or rely on it in an emergency.
