Surprisingly High Quality at This Price—Clear, Golden, and Sweet”
A luminous golden-yellow hue layered with warm amber tones—this Jin Jun Mei reveals its sweetness through precision brewing. Steeped at 203–212°F (95–100°C), each infusion unfolds gently, allowing the honeyed aroma and soft caramel notes to rise. With timing calibrated to seconds rather than minutes, the tea delivers a smooth, lingering finish that is both bright and deeply comforting.

Outstanding tea, great value!
Only a few seconds steep needed to release a rich reddish amber color; very pleasant toasted-bread (malty?) fragrance, with a mild and sweet comforting tea taste. Tried the B grade, but looking forward to getting the A next time!

Good flavor and color, comparison of JinJunMei grade A and B
To find out difference between grade A and B, I bought both and tried today :) When dry, grade A has more yellow bud while Grade B has more black leaves and some amount of half leaves. They both smell good. After soaking (and then pour the soup out), grade A smells more chocolaty while grade B has stronger and more fruity smell. Both are very much enjoyable. I enjoy grade B’s fruity smell more but that’s a matter of personal preference. The soup are both very light-flavored, compared to other black tea like Yorkshire breakfast tea. Grade A goes very smooth while grade B has a hint of bitter in the back of my tongue (only when compared with A side by side, I didn’t notice it when drinking B alone in the past). Both soup smell good that I can’t tell much difference. I would buy the grade B again given the price and more fruity flavor. But if you like chocolaty smell and wholesome look of soaked leaves, grade A is a better choice.

good flavor
I'm impressed!! I was not so sure with the initial aroma of the dry leaves but once I brewed them, it was very very nice. It was a very warm, almost cocoa-like taste. I used 8 grams in a 150 ml gaiwan with spring water- brewed to 195 - I gave a rinse, then a 10 second brew and then followed it up with a second infusion by adding another 5 seconds. I look forward to seeing how many steeps I can get from these leaves.

Tasteless tea
I am very disappointed with the tea. Jinjinmei is supposed to be the #1 black tea from China. But This is very light almost tasteless. Not sure why it gets so many five star ratings. Too bad I can not return. But won’t buy teas from this company again.

A Yeoman version of Zheng shan xiao shong
Non-smokey Lapsong suchong (Zheng shan xiao shong) is not always easy to find in the US. And when you do it often requires a few weeks wait for it to be shipped from China. I was surprised at how quickly this was shipped and delivered. I bought the A grade and it has smaller/more broken leaves and more stems than I would have preferred but the taste was still there through 4 gong fu brewings. Nice fruity nose with a hint of smoke, pale orange to reddish colored brew, light bodied, fruity, mineral-y tang.

JinJunMei [A] worth the extra $$
The leaves are all whole with very few broken. They are nice and spindly, as expected for this variety, with a profusion of yellow. The aroma of both the dry leaves and the brewed tea is a mix of chocolate, dried fruits, and a really good vanilla bourbon. If it were a wine, I’d liken this to an old vine Zinfandel or in spirits, a complex brandy. I brewed it both gongfu and Western style and it worked well both ways although I prefer the former. That way, I picked up more malty notes in mid/later brews and I was able to brew the leaves six or more times. Well worth the $ based on my experience and preferences.

Rich, delicious tea. Strong notes of chocolate.
Rich, chocolatey, and a hint of lapsang souchong smokiness. This tea is very fresh, produced in June 2019, and is made from the genuine FuYun no. 6 variety tea plant, with young delicate leaves and nice small golden buds. With this grade JinJunMei, you can still experience much of the characteristic flavors of true "golden eyebrows" without the high price. The flavor is very enjoyable. It is deep and persistent, and I easily got 8 steeps in my gaiwan. Top quality JinJunMei is extremely expensive because it is a very early harvest tea, and because it is very labor intensive to produce. To make one lb of top grade JinJunMei, it takes 50,000 tea sprouts/buds. This takes twenty workers an entire day, and the price reflects this. Obviously lower grades will have more leaves, less buds, and be a bit less sweet, but overall I was very impressed with the flavor of this tea, and found it to be a very nice way to experience good tasting JinJunMei while still paying a reasonable price.
