Mini Calypso Steel Drum with Sticks, Stand, DVD, Booklet - from "Steel Drum Source"

I thought that the quality of the drum and stand were great but the mallets were a bit too delicate and I plan on purchasing more durable ones.

We ordered this drum for our toddler grandson, but as soon as I opened the box, I knew I had made a mistake. There was nothing surrounding the drum to keep it from being bashed against the box during shipment--no bubble wrap, "peanuts," nothing. I did set it up to check the sound. The mallets were "Q-tips" compared to those pictured. The individual notes on the drum were indistinguishable from each other. And it was fragile enough to know that it had no chance against a toddler's idea of play. I reboxed it, adding newspaper to prevent the contents from shifting, and mailed it back. "Tom" emailed to say he had received the box, but wondered why the notes were so out of tune. We replied that the drum came that way. He refused to refund the entire amount ($89 and change, $9.99 in S&H, $99.94 total from us--withheld $24 and change) blaming us for knocking the drum (he had just tuned himself) so it was "unsellable". We contacted Amazon--we have a $25 credit with them as the option of choice to make things right.Buyers beware. If you choose to return an item to this seller, you may have a "he said/she said" situation in your future.

Bought this as a gift for my mom. She loved it! My kids have enjoyed it also.

I love the drum. The drumsticks are tiny (see photo) and for some reason I wasn't expecting them to be that small. Also, the paint job is not nearly as professional looking as it is in the photo (sloppy) but that is okay with me. Sound quality is good, I love the booklet that comes with it. Overall very excited about this drum.

The only down side to this nice sounding mini steel drum is the length of the mallets. All the company needs to improve is to lengthen the mallets to make the 'drumming' easier on adult size hands. I was very pleased with the stand also. I thought it might be more of a 'toy' type, but I was wrong.....this is a great way to begin learning steel drum and with nice tone quality.

Quite smaller than I expected and not too sturdy. Sticks are dowls with rubber bands at end. Not work the money.

Did not order this particular steel drum.
