San Diego Hat Co. Womens Ultrabraid Visor with Ribbon Binding, and Sweatband

I never knew this type of visor/hat existed, but once I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I'm 27 and I take sun protection seriously. I use a variety of products which make my skin extra sensitive to the sun (like tretinoin). Additionally, I am very pale and want to avoid sun damage. The fact that this hat rolls up is invaluable to me. I like to walk to the stores and wanted protection while I am out on sunny days. I was hesitant to buy a sun hat because I couldn't imagine lugging it around in the store with me. This visor/hat is the perfect solution. I can stuff it into my purse or keep it in my car for impromptu picnics or walks in the park. THIS HAT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SUNSCREEN. Yes, it is rated UPF 50+ (it came with a tag that said so), but UV rays can reflect off of surfaces and hit your face. It creates a bit of shade and helps you avoid direct sun. It's not too big or too small; it creates just the right amount of shade. The tag states it is 75% paper and 25% polyester. I compared it to other brands of visor hats in stores and I think this is well worth paying a few dollars extra for. It is a pliable material that holds its shape. Other, cheaper hats seemed floppier and less nice looking. This hat looks pretty good; I don't feel embarrassed to wear it, anyway. From the front, it looks more like a hat, but from the back and sides it has more of a visor look to it. Honestly, if you want to look cute, you might want to buy a full hat. But because this is packable, I still think it's a great investment. The velcro strap lets you wear it as tightly as you want it, for any sized head.

I really love this hat. I bought it in anticipation of a trip to Europe during the hot summer months and it did exactly what I needed it to do: protect my face and eyes from the hot sun. I love that this hat rolls up and stores easily in a small pocket of my luggage when not in use. It fits perfectly, though depending on your hairstyle can sometimes be difficult to get the velcro pieces to connect just right. Others have mentioned that the elastic loop used to store the rolled up hat can get in the way of the velcro and this is accurate: it could be a bit annoying at times. Having said that, it was a minor inconvenience and nothing that really affected me. I would definitely recommend it!

I use it when I go hiking. Soft material, practical, stay in place even when it’s windy, create a lot of shade, very comfortable to use

FYI the one that says black blend in the Amazon listing = mixed black bright on the San Diego site. It has rainbow colors woven in. I had to order 2 different colors to find that out. I’m happy w the visor though.

I love this visor hat thing! I bought this on impulse this summer after realizing that I needed some face protection from the sun while at the pool with my toddler. I wear this right into the water with my kiddo and it's held up so far despite the chlorine! My favorite part about it is that it protects my hair from the water a little bit. My hair is long and curly and somewhat high-maintenance. I have been trying to find a way to keep it dry so that I don't have to do a full wash routine after every trip to the pool, while I still want to get in the water and play with my kid. I've given up on swim caps. But I was pleasantly surprised by this! I put my hair into a topknot and this hat over the top, and the brim provides some splash protection! As long as I don't go under or really jump around, my hair can still be mostly dry afterwards. I like having that flexibility. I have a giant lady head and this is big enough for me. It wraps around with velcro tabs at the back, and there's still enough space that a larger head than mine could wear it. And it rolls up with a little elastic loop to fit around it, which is perfect for the pool bag. All in all, I love this hat and I'm glad I got it!

I have gotten my money's worth from this hat and I've only had it for about a month! I use it very often for kayak fishing to keep my face shaded. I used it every day when I went to the Keys and got so many compliments on it. I love that I can roll it up and fit it in my bag and it takes up little space until I need it. It's also nice not to have the top of my head covered so I don't get as hot. With this hat, I have been able to spend several full days in the sun (in south FL, no less) without getting burnt. With the Velcro closure the size can be adjusted so I can make it really tight to sit high up or more loose and push it down almost to my neck. I don't know how long it will last, but I will gladly get another if this one has any problems.

I like how the hat looks on my head. I was worried the top part would be too big. There is enough support in the visor that it doesn't flop in my face which is nice. Few issues that I have with it that knocked it down a star. I rolls up nicely and could easily be put into a bag for traveling 1. Its a bit itchy on my forehead, I worry it might be too itchy if I were to get sweaty 2. The strap that is used to keep the hat rolled up hangs out when wear the hat which I don't like, if I keep the hat I'll cut it off. If I want to keep it rolled I'll use an elastic band to hold it together 3. The Velcro strap feels flimsy, to have the hat at the tightness I need I have I can't use the full strip so I'm worried over time that the fabric holding that Velcro strap together will rip off I ordered a few of these style visors so I'll edit this when I decide if I'm going to keep this one or not

Perfect for my long hair ladies who want sun protection! My hair is down to my backside, and I am all about sun protection, especially on my face. I took this hat to both Mexico and Bali and absolutely loved it! It's small and rolls up easily, making it ideal for packing and keeping in your beach bag without adding bulk or ruining the hat. The fabric is great for water and dries quickly. I love the Velcro at the back, allowing me to adjust it as I need and take on and off with ease. It's very comfortable and the design makes it not bulky at the back of your neck. Perfect for the pool, beach or patio. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love this hat. I have bought similar hats from both Solbari and BedHead and the minute a gust of wind comes they are both useless. This hat handles the strong coastal Australian breezes. Buying my second one in case I lose my first as I walk everywhere. Had my first for about 6 months of everyday wear and still going strong - very happy customer : )
