Perfect for aerobics or for using under a step
I was looking for a yoga mat that was thin enough to be stable under an aerobics step yet firm enough with enough give to use for shock absorption when dancing or running in place. I wasn't expecting miracles, but after reading many, many reviews, I decided to for for this one based on thinness, price, reviews of this mat and others and - what the heck - I liked the color. The one I ordered is the Turquoise Sea 4mm mat, and I paid full price for it out of my own pocket.I was expecting to have to put the mat open in the garage for a few days, but when I pulled it out of the box and the plastic bag, it had no smell whatever. It is, indeed, quite thin - I prefer a thicker mat for poses on my knees or for doing situps on, but it's perfect for my needs. It keeps my aerobic step in place like it's glued to the floor, and it's actually really good at absorbing some of the impact when I walk or dance on it. Oh, and the color is exactly the same as it appeared on my monitor.I expected to have to buy several mats before I found the right one, but I got lucky with this mat. I've bought a lot of things on Amazon that are okay, but for one reason or another, they are pretty meh. This mat isn't one of them. It is exactly what I wanted it to be with no smells and an attractive color. It is, indeed, sticky on the floor, and while it's too soon to see how durable it will be, it doesn't shed. And it's thin. It probably won't be enough padding if you want to spend long periods of time on your knees or doing 100 situps, but if you're actually looking for a thin mat, this 4mm one is definitely worth considering.

Works great for Bikram
I've used a cheap ~⅛" mat for Bikram yoga on and off for 9 years, and it needed replacing. Was looking for something with more padding, and went with this one. Initial impressions after 4 classes are very positive. Great looking, well built, and very comfortable. I use a BREATHE mat/towel on top, so can't really talk to slipperiness – the combination works really well. I was a little nervous that the extra thickness would make me less stable in the standing series. My balance is pretty poor to start with, but I haven't noticed any difference. Where I have noticed a difference is how much more comfortable it is for the floor series – so much nicer. One note: there's a note printed in micro print on the packaging that says "Tip: As an Eco feature, this mat will decompose over time. Cracking and dryness are normal phases in this process. To extend the life of the eco mat, please avoid excessive heat and direct sunlight exposure." Not something I'd call a feature or eco-friendly, if it involves frequent replacement instead of longevity, but hopefully it's something that won't happen for a good long while. I can avoid direct sunlight, but Bikram is done at 104°F – hopefully this isn't considered excessive heat. Assuming I get at least 2-3 years use out of it (hopefully much longer), and given its reasonable price, I'm rating it 5 stars. If it breaks down prematurely, I'll be back to update :-)

Gets the job done for the price
Do I think its the best mat in the world? No.Do I think its a revolutionary cheaper alternative to Mandukas? Nah.Do I think you need to spend an insane amount on a mat to practice at home? Nope.Do I recommend this mat for someone looking for a decent mat for a decent price? Absolutely.I practice at home every night and once a week at a studio that provides super awesome manduka mats. I wasn't ready to drop a stack on a mat but I definitely wanted an upgrade to my 5 year old work out mat that is stretched and holed beyond belief. This mat definitely does the trick. It can handle your downward dogs without stretching under your palms or sliding under your feet. Do I think its gonna last forever? Probably not. After two weeks of everyday use I notice very slight ware that I'm sure will grow over time making the mat unusable but you get what you pay for. I would describe this mat as a great starting off point. A good mat to get you into yoga and once you're committed and practicing daily, it'll be time to invest in something more durable. If you're looking for a mat to use once a week at the most, this thing will probably last you a long time.

I really love this mat
I purchased this yoga mat a few months ago but only just recently began using it. I have been so far been using it daily for about 3 weeks on carpet and on hardwood floors. The grip is great, even on the carpet. The top side grip I would give a 4.5/5, because I tend to have sweaty hands and feet (thank you anxiety) and sometimes will begin to slip if I'm in a sustained vinyasana. But if I weren't as sweaty as I am it would be a definite 5/5! My feet rarely lose grip, they don't sweat as much as my hands. Anyway, it's a thinner mat so if you are someone who requires more padding for your knees or back or whatever, I would look for something thicker. Or find some padding to slip beneath this one! Also because it's thinner (and possibly because the surface is rougher) my animals LOVE attacking it... It's held up pretty dang well to the assaults but has a few tears in it from claws. I gave the durability a 4/5 stars. I would definitely purchase this mat again if mine becomes too worn, but I don't see that happening for some time (unless of course the dog gets at it, ugh). Namaste!
