Can I put this on the existing ceiling and leave it exposed without covering it in any way? Will it look horrible or will the insulation flake off?

You must cover them! These give off particles that can irritate the lungs and eyes. One option is to use fake tin tiles for ceiling. They make them in plastic now. They look very nice and can be painted in latex or enamels. If you want the old copper patina look, you can buy Modern Masters Copper Paint and the Reactive Agent and use them to achieve a coppery green patina. Do not leave these uncovered.

Could you use this to line an exterior layer of a pizza oven?

Apparently you can! One of the reviewers (4 stars) of this product on this site, used it to insulate the exterior of his homemade powder coating oven. Now powder coating goes from 80C to 200C which is 176F to 392F. A pizza cooks at usually 400F, so very similar specs. You may want to call ceramic kiln manufacturers and ask about insulation materials they use for kilns.
