I would consider this item water proof. I have used & reused said spiders in my yard fir several years. It has rained several times. They do not look like wet dogs if they get wet. They keep their physical integrity as a spider.

How do you keep the spiders standing up in your yard?

Their legs are bendable wire. You can position them how you want them. Their feet bend as well so can be shaped as a hook of sorts to hang from shutters, doors, etc.

How do you hang these on the exterior of your home?

I attached mine to a giant web. It might be difficult to hang the spider on the side of the house. Maybe use some command hooks. Or fishing string to hang from gutters. Good luck. Happy Halloween!
