Hot Dish Heaven: Classic Casseroles from Midwest Kitchens

I gave this book as a gift, and am sorry I don't have a copy. Am putting it on my wishlist. The author has a long history with hotdishes, obviously, and her narratives are a fascinating window into the culinary history of the upper midwest. This book can be well appreciated even if you don't want to make a hotdish. To tell the truth, there are a few recipes I'd never make, but it was fun to read through them.

Arrived in record time and in the frigid cold - perfect weather for trying out some new casseroles and revisiting old ones!

There are lots of interesting recipes in this book. Ms Burckhardt did a good job of picking out dishes from the midwest that made me want to try them. This book would be a great starter cook book for a new cook.Carol

This is my favorite "come up with something for supper" cookbook. Classic recipes from my childhood - Midwest comfort food.

Wasn't what I was looking for. I will stick with my Campbell's casserole book for now. This book is all black and white also

A few good recipes and a lot of wasted ink. Some recipes are worthwhile and some are space fillers. Pass.

The recipes in here are great. They're easy but you can add things if you want them to be fancier. I use this book on a weekly basis.

Pretty basic recipes. Haven't tried any yet, but not really tempted to at this point.
