A useful guidebook
There's a lot of good information in this book and it was in my experience timely and relevant. I'd recommend the Lonely Planet series to anyone touring Australia, and I recommend Australia as a destination even more highly! One of the bet bits of advice from this guide was to buy a local SIM card for my phone and Ipad as soon as I got there. Armed with that, these guides, and Yelp you are all set anywhere Down Under.

Just the right information for a week long trip to Darwin.
Just enough info for a week long stay in Darwin. We chose not to rent bicycles because of what we read about the wet season. This was a mistake as it only rained once a day in the late afternoon. The Adelaide river tour was fabulous!

For my son
The guide is very good but I think there is missing a couple of more pictures and more about Alice Springs

Amazing and detailed information, maps, and descriptions! Great tips!
Again, I must say, I am amazed by all the detailed information, maps, and descriptions! Lonely Planet has always been my go-to place for travel guides because of the pictures, information, maps, descriptions, and more! These books certainly do not let me down when I travel, and I'm glad to say that this book has been no exception. From planning a trip, to a last minute survival guide, Lonely Planet's Central Australia guide book has it all! It also includes things like what you would expect to see on your trip, and a road guide for reviews and insider tips. Here are some examples that you would find while reading the book:-School of the Air, where you could listen and get an understanding of how kids in the city of Katherine, virtually learn.-Nitmiluk National Park, where you can fish, walk, and canoe, along the Katherine River.-Little Dip Conservation Park, where you can birdwatch and climb sand dunes. What's great about this book, is that the authors also supply places to stay and eat, near a specific activity or tourist spot. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who might even just be thinking about going, because this might spark your fire for your next adventure to Central Australia!I'd like to thank Lonely Planet for supplying me with this book in exchange for a honest review.

Where would I be without Lonely Planet?
Up a gum tree probably! I am visiting the red centre this year. I always buy a Lonely Planet of wherever I am visiting. They tell it how it is, give lots of info across the board as well as links to other sites, eg The Ghan, Uluru, Kangaroo island etc. good colour pics and easy to read text, with an excellent index.

Ok
It's a good guide book but I feel the routes could have been laid out a little better with more map detail. Also, there are nit so many insider tips as I seem to remember from previous lonely planet editions.

A good broad introduction
Very helpful tips and a useful range of information on carefully selected places to visit. I like the sense of humour too.

Lonely Planet - good, again
It's about central Australia - it's by Lonely Planet. 'Good' as they say down there. What more can I say?
