The second one had some knots and splitting and splintering on one side. Returning it for a third order I have such great faith in this product. I wish I could have kept both but they would not be useful to me. Wooden utensils are ever changing matter. That being said the environment that they're in changes. It changes them also. The wood was well selected with nice patina but probably finished at around #600. It had no imperfections in the wood piec, but a slight imperfection in the turning on one side. I felt it needed finishing. This involved half a sheet of #1000, #1500 and #2000 sandpaper, running each parallel to the previous, with a little extra elbow grease to smooth out the turning error. All in all, it took about 15 minutes to take it a silky smooth and even finish. It was then lightly coated in mineral oil. It didn't soak in much, meaning it's been reasonably well oiled before shipping, but it did make the patina pop. Overall, this is a lovely pin. It would be worth spending 15 minutes finishing it though, if you want a professional finish.

I love olive wood. There’s something about the grain of it that is so pretty. This rolling pin has it and matches very well the spoons, ladle, cheese board etc. I had gotten from Cost Plus.It has a good weight for it and has been perfect rolling dough.

As soon as I received the rolling pin, I rinse it with water and dried it with paper towel. After air dried, it felt like there’s splinters all over, so I rubbed it with olive oil. It not only didn’t improve the condition but left yellowish/brownish residue on the paper towel, see photo. I am really concerned about the residue so I decided to return it.

Beautiful French rolling pin. The wood grain was amazing, I couldn’t be happier. I purchased it as a gift for my daughter. Perfectly wrapped for gift giving as well.

French rolling pin made in China. It is beautiful however its hard to roll out a pie shell when there is a flat spot in the center. Sending this right back!

I can’t wait to use it!!
