This file is very sturdy and has a done a decent job helping me tame the nails of my dog who is afraid of grinders, clippers, and having his paws touched in general. I don’t love the design; it’s too long....which isn’t the end of the world because I just don’t use the part closer to the handle...but with that being said I can only use maybe half of it. It would be great if there was a different design but I have no clue what that would be so, oh well. Also, perhaps for your purposes the design works just fine. Like others have mentioned, this product is better for keeping nails trim, not getting them short. But, I've tried clippers and a Dremel with little success on our current dog, so...I still used the file to get my dog's nails short. They were overgrown-it took around 6 weeks of almost daily sessions. About 5 minutes/day-however long a partially frozen lick mat lasted.Now that they're in good shape, I do 1-2 sessions/week.The curve on the one side helps keep the nail lined up, but I don't really use it for shaping. No complaints with the file so far.

Initially, I ordered this for my dogs after COVID stopped our grooming visits. I didn’t find that is worked very well for the dogs because it meant they had to stay still for a while. Then tried it on my own nails and was SOLD. Everything said in the write-up about this product is true. Smoother, does not worsen already rough nails, not grainy, easy to hold and use. Beware though of dropping it, breaks just like the glass it is. Had to buy another right away.

Great to finish off nails after a trim. Would love to have this be coarser on one side so that I would be able to use to shorten the nail without trimming first. Great product. Glad to have in pup's grooming box. Recommend you try. (Human's glass files are great too)

This is a really great file for my toy sized dogs. I use it to help smooth the dewclaws and any edges after filing with dremmel.

Just didn't work for my dog. Didn't trim nails very well, but did smooth them.

Love this nail file for my little dog, so much better for her nails than trying to clip them, they curl towards her pads quite a bit so this works so much better at keeping them short.
