Building Online Learning Communities: Effective Strategies for the Virtual Classroom (Jossey Bass Higher & Adult Education Series)

I used this book for one of classes in my Masters program for teaching adults. This author is well-known and has written and collaborated with others, so she is very credible. If you are designing an online community or curriculum, this book will help you to create one where the learners are highly engaged and motivated to learn.

As a non-formal educator it was easy to embrace the concepts of this book. The strategies allow an educator to consider what the most effective method of teaching in a virtual space can be for your topic. Highly recommend to anyone that works with others over distance or teaches online courses.

I study instructional design and technology and this book was very instructive. At times a bit repetitive and ambiguous, but if you wanted to start your own online course this is basically a manual.

After a master's in distance education, I'm taking a "practical" course on how to teach online, and this book addresses a lot of the issues. It's easy to read, especially in the e-book format on my iPad.

Excellent training manual for teachers making the transition to the digital field. It examines the concepts of how really different on-line Instructor participation is required to offer a competent class to your "digital" students.

Very informative book on teaching online courses with its various nuances to include community building, assessments, and assignments.

Bought it for a Master's class on online teaching and development. Despite the publish date, the content is still really relevant and I've really enjoyed it.
