Excellent book.
Yes, it develops in the former USSR, but it's not a "communist book". I read this book several years ago when I was in my early adolescence and had a wonderful experience. In fact, later I read it again. It's about the friendship and loyalty showed between two friends while they have wonderful adventures in a siberian city. Vladislav Kaprivin is a top class children's books writer and "The Three at the Square of Carronades" honors his talent. Through very expressive descriptions, Kaprivin takes you into the emotions, worries and dreams of Slavka, the kid that is the center of the story. Highly recommended for kids.

What an amazing story. I wish someone did a movie on ...
I read this book when I was about 9 years old. My grandfather was a hardcore communist and had a lot of Russian literature. This book has nothing to do with communism, and when I read it again recently I nearly cried with nostalgia. What an amazing story. I wish someone did a movie on this.
