French wire (also called bullion, purl or gimp) is used to reinforce and protect the silk where strung pearls are attached to the clasp. We recommend that you cut up the whole length as soon as you receive it, as this stuff will kink, bend, stretch, squash and generally distort if you so much as look at it the wrong way. This really is rose gold by the way, even though when you receive it you will think it is ordinary gold - until you compare it to yellow gold
