Karen Kay BuckleyPerfect Leaves Pattern

Just started playing with applique after quilting for over 30 years and like so many, I'm in love with the process! I used KKB's perfect circles to make perfect circles and once my big hands got used to small needles and running stitches, I don't believe I'll ever change away from using the circle templates. Because of the good experience, I ordered the leaf templates and tried to use KKB's method of sizing and turning and hitting with an iron....nope...that iron is hot and my fingers were in the way! So, I decided to use her method of running stitch and gathering the leaf up..Once I got the hang of it and fiddled enough with it, the leaves formed beautifully! So, that's going to be my go to method of using these templates. Really love ALL of her products but the leaf templates are going to be so helpful. Especially because applique seems to call for millions of leaves! This product performed exceptionally well.

I have a number of Karen Kay Buckley's products - including several sets of her mylar templates. Read the description carefully - 15 leaves - NO duplicates. While there are plenty of choices, having just one of each size limits the possibility of assembly line production. In addition to that, a $6.00 sheet of heat-proof of mylar from a craft store would yield a lot more leaves.

While I haven't used these template yet, I have used similar ones and found them to make it much easier to achieve nearly perfect applique shapes for whatever project I'm working on. I love that I'm not limited to a few sizes but have 15 sizes to choose from and that I can touch my iron to the fabric edge while the template is inside to get an edge that holds its shape.

I use these plastic leaves for applique. They work well to iron under the fabric edge. But I was very disappointed that there was only 1 leaf per size.

Although the templates appeared to be undamaged, the paper insert had damage to it and appeared faded and wrinkled with some scratches on it, as if it had been wadded up and thrown in the garbage and then retrieved. Even the little plastic baggie the item was in looked as if it had been pulled from the garbage. There were no instructions included.

I love the fact that the leaves are heat resistant. I just wish they came in bigger sizes- but I am very happy with them. Watch Karen’s video- it’s awesome and very helpful
