Very handy if you are island hopping and don't want to buy multiple guide books. Especially the restaurant recommendations were very helpful - and so delicious! Outdoor and adventure tips were equally great. As this edition has just come out the information on prices and opening times is up to date and reliable. All in all a great guide that I would recommend.

Great book, but why "signature confirmation" on delivery Amazon?
It is a very good book. A great mix of "what to see", along with the why's, hotel recommendations, restaurants, etc. that you would expect from Frommer's. Interestingly, a bit annoying, Amazon requires UPS signature conformation with delivery!

I purchased this book to prepare for my first Hawaiian vacation. It gave me a great deal of ideas on what there is to do on each island. I especially liked the "must do", "ought to do", and "great to do if you have time" breakdowns. And based on the activities/sight-seeing I did actually do when on the Big Island, I would say the author's suggestions and ratings were right on. I found the book weak in the area of hotel and airline suggestions.

Haven't yet been back to Hawaii since last year (will be there in 4 weeks time), but the guide covers all the areas I'm interested in - it's quite comprehensive.

If you plan on getting only one book for the Hawaiian Islands, this is a good choice.
