Ballistol Multi-Purpose Lubricant Cleaner Protectant Combo Pack #5

I started to get in the world of firearms and one of the many opinionated things is how to keep them clean after a day at the range. I laughed when I was watching a video on youtube on how to clean a firearm with "only a few basic items" and they point out a solvent, lubricant, three different types of brushes, a precision oiler, gun grease, a bunch of tools, and warning you to be in a well ventilated area with eye protection and gloves... That's not simple! Other videos used just a can of ballistol, a tooth brush, a wire bore brush, a jag and a bunch of cotton patches. Guess which option I went for. Ballistol does it all. One of the big selling points is it's an all in one CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protectent / penetrate). Another big plus is it's eco friendly. I don't bother wearing gloves, it wipes off just fine with some soap and water. Should still wear eye protection and be in a well ventilated area but for me I just set a fan nearby to keep some air flowing around. The smell doesn't bother me at all. It just smells like any other oil really. It's one issue which can either be seen as a plus or minus is it takes a while to do it's thing. The first time I used it I ended up spraying down the barrel and having it sit for a good hour or so. But afterwards I had no issue with cleaning any of the carbon residue. I see that as a plus as I don't want something that eats away at carbon so fast you shouldn't leave it sit for extended periods of time. On a revolver I bought that was used it still looked pretty dirty. I dowsed the entire thing in ballistol, to the point I held it in the sink and let it set for several hours. Came back and was able to shine it up like new. It didn't handle the burn marks around forcing cone or front of cylinder but those are notoriously difficult to clean. Just used a small bit of carbon gun cloth and cleaned that right up. The one thing I haven't tested yet is if it reacts with the fiber optic sights. With most solvents it will cloud it. This seems like it should be safer but I haven't confirmed yet. This specific pack I found to be the most useful for me. You have more control over where you spray and the smaller size, coupled with a small cleaning kit, fits in range bag in case I ever had to clean it in the field. This is also where it's all in one ability helps as I can use it to not only clean gun but also to apply oil to the few places of a gun that needs it. The last point I want to make is the easy cleanup. Because it's water soluble it comes off pretty easy from most any surface, including hands. So far I've only used this for guns but I don't see the need to purchase anything else when it comes to around the house tasks.

The only thing you ever need for your firearms. Dohbles as a great seasonal protectant, winterizer, lubricant, etc. Does exactly as advertised, to a degree products just don't anymore. Don't ever stop making this stuff.

Many people use Ballistol as an all in one compound for firearms cleaning, lubricating and protecting (CLP). I'm old school and generally use different chemicals for each of the three applications. However, it's not practical to carry all of that stuff into the field. I keep a small can of Ballistol in my pocket in case a gun gets wet, dirty, etc. out in the wild. Ballistol cleans, lubricates and protects well enough to keep firearms running safely and reliably until the next thorough bench cleaning. It also does not degrade or stain treated steel or plastics.

Great product for the gun user clean mine great no residue

This stuff is great. I bought the 4 pack with two larger cans and two smaller cans. One of the smaller cans fits in my tackle box, and one in the bang bag. For the two larger ones, one in the house, and one in the shop. I have been using them regularly for about two months, and I have to say it is a great lubricant. BUT..., it smells like a wet dog and bad feet. I cannot help but think that, every time I spray it. WET DOG. BAD FEET. The smell is very um...POTENT. Wet dog. Bad feet. I'm still using it. IT'S THAT GOOD. lol

Great all around lube and protection

This stuff removes fouling and seasons my muzzleloader bore perfectly.

I use it in my competition rifle bores and chambers, it cleans gently and lubes everything well. BUT, the little tube is difficult to put in the spray head and then pops out at the least resistance, getting oil all over your gun's action, scope and stock as well as your work bench. So be careful with it in match environments where you might also spray it on your fellow competitors and their equipment and shooting benches, and that might not be good for your popularity on the line. Other than that, I love the stuff and use it at home and away, just ... carefully.
