Ridgid 57043 POWER SPIN+ Power Spinner Drain Cleaner

Our Master Bath toilet clogs from time to time. Not sure why. I used a 25' manual snake, and it never worked by hand unless I painstaking feed it inch by inch. Then connect a battery operated drill, and issue resolved. Enter the Rigid drain cleaner. * The trigger feeds the snake only when you pull the trigger. * If you want to pause, you can release the handle (not fully), and just run the drill as fast as you dare (instructions say not more than 500 RPM). * Need to reverse for short bit because it didn't feed right? Reverse the drill to pick up the slack. - Put back to normal drill (forward) mode, and continue feeding. * I've used this 2 times now, and both times it was a LOT quicker than the manual method. It was a lot cleaner. And I didn't manage to splash a bunch of water on the floor. When done? Reverse drill, pull back to casing. Put it into the sturdy cardboard box until it's needed again. I did need to get a pumice stone, as it does leave metal marks on the white toilet. In my opinion? Small price to pay. As this is recurring on an irregular basis, it's a good overall solution. And much cheaper than calling a plumber. I do wish that the drill receptacle/rod was 3 sided (or 6 sided), as the drill chuck sometimes comes loose. Overall great prices for value!

Outstanding drain snake. The autofeed trigger advances and retrieves the cable smoothly without making a mess, and hooking it up to a cordless drill makes quick work of deep clogs that manual snakes struggle with. The cable is stiff and kink-resistant, and the drum housing is solid Ridgid quality. Paid for itself on the very first use.

Great for snap sessions around the house.

Update. I purchased another one of these and it worked fine. I'm guessing the one that melted was a factory defect?? Anyway returning this to 5 stars. Used on a shower drain. I used an electric dewalt drill to snake the drain. The auger got so hot from turning it melted the orange plastic casing and distorted the shape of it. It began wobbling so much it bent the cable. It's completely unusable now. I have used these before without issue. I have a feeling it may have been a factory defect. My other rigid snake that was the same style I gave away never had this issue. I purchased another and it worked fine.

Once I got this thing out of the box it appeared to be of decent quality. I started clearing the pipe by hand until I realized the super slow feed rate would take forever. I chose to forgo the handle and attached my drill to the spindle on the back - set my drill to slowest speed and torque slip setting to the lightest it could go. I am a mechanic by trade and have a good sense of the strength of various materials (stripping fasteners, cracking plastics, bulging rubber gaskets etc.) I tried to be careful with this unit. I started to spin my drill slowly and the slightest bit of resistance in the drain snapped the spindle attachment on the back and my drill chuck spun freely. Because of this the unit would not feed which rendered the drill feature useless. I took it apart just to make sure it wasn't something that I could quickly fix, but saw that the spindle was only held on the three of the tiniest tack welds which had broken once the auger met resistance. This was all within 5 minutes of it's very first use. I will be returning this and buying a different one from a local harbor freight which is half the cost and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Was expecting better than this - the cable housing is good quality & solid - the snake cable is good quality, but had to cut off the auger tip to get thru pipes easier - the drum handle is cheap - and the front hand grip is cheap & doesn't work right - bad design - had to use it upside down to get hand inside when engaging the auto feed - Rigid should fix this & make it a little bigger & made of metal

Did the job and it was affordable. Easy to use.

Great product, especially for its price. I had a "standard" snake and had used it for years. When it finally stopped working (the crank started slipping), I came to Amazon for a replacement. I found this product for only a little more, and it was money well spent. It's usefulness far exceeds that of what I was using before. I would say that you would have to go up to professional grade (and pay a lot more) to find a product that is more useful.

Du moment on a acheté notre appartement, on a eu des problèmes avec evacuer de l'eau dans la cuisine. On a essayé avec des nombreuses bouteilles de débouchant, sans solution, ou seulement pour quelques semaines. Avec ce déboucheur power spin, j'ai vraiment bien débouché le circuit. Tout les 7m50 sont allée dedant, et le bouchon est disparu! La machine est trop lourd pour utiliser seule, à la main. Avec une perceuse a batteries c'est beaucoup plus pratique pour utiliser sans aide d'une autre personne. Ca coute assez de l'argent, mais beaucoup moins de laisser venir un plombier... Maintenant c'est plus de deux mois après acheter ce ridgid, et on n'a plus eu des problèmes!

Um eine hartnäckige Verstopfung in einem Fallrohr mit 70mm Durchmesser (nur für Küchenabwasser) zu lösen habe ich die PowerSpin+ angeschafft. Es war mir bewusst, dass die Spirale nur für Abflüsse bis 40mm Durchmesser empfohlen war, also sollte ich bei der Anwendung Vorsicht walten lassen, damit sich die Stahlspirale nicht in der Leitung verdrillt. Die Verstopfung war in einem Abstand von ca. 5m von meiner Reinigungsöffnung im Speicher, dazwischen nur zwei kleinere Kurven im Fallrohr, wie mir aus älteren Fotos bekannt war. Das bestellte Werkzeug ist pünktlich angekommen, die Bedienungsanleitung ist in Englisch, Französisch und Spanisch, ich wählte die leicht verständliche englische. Vor dem ersten Einsatz habe ich mal geprüft, wieviel Umdrehungen für einen Vorschub von einem Meter notwendig sind, es waren ca. 100. Bei der ersten Anwendung habe ich aber schon einen Akkuschrauber (langsame Geschwindigkeit) verwendet. Man konnte schon die erste Kurve im Rohr erspüren und nach einiger Zeit bemerkte ich das Erreichen der Verstopfung. Als die Spirale sich in die Verengung gebohrt hatte zog ich diese von Hand zurück und wickelte sie nach kurzer Reinigung wieder mit dem Akkuschrauber zurück in den runden Behälter. Das führte ich ca. 5 Mal durch und konnte dann bis ca. 7,5 Meter ins Fallrohr eindringen, das Ende der Spirale ist durch grösseren einzelnen Windungsabstand deutlich zu erkennen. Das Rohr ist wieder frei, die Spirale unbeschädigt und nicht geknickt. Nach Reinigung liess sich die Spirale auch ohne Akkuschrauber von Hand wieder ohne Kraftaufwand ins Gehäuse schieben. Der automatische Vorschub wird durch drei schräggestellte Kugellager realisiert, die beim Ziehen des Griffes auf die Spirale greifen und diese je nach Drehrichtung vorwärts oder rückwärts bewegen. Beim Lösen des Griffes dreht sich die Spirale einfach nur, gut wenn man gerade beim Lösen der Blockade angekommen ist.
