Great introduction and well worth the money spent if one is interested in this subject
I enjoyed this book a great deal. It provides a great overview of the spiritual tradition of the Yoruba people of West Africa. If one is interested in the study of Ifa and Orisa, it’s a great first book and place to start.

Amazing Beginner Book
I think this is a great book for any Black person/African American who is interested in learning about ATR. This book has information about altars, the Orishas, and more. There is also a section in the back with recommended books, and they are talked about throughout the text. The only thing I dislike is that it seems some information is missing. I posted two images (pg 39-40) where the text cuts off at the end and begins talking about Eshu.

A must have for beginners!
Let me start off by saying this book is Amazing! I am a total newbie on the subject of the Ifa, orisha, and the Yoruba African spiritual system this book cleared up all the fog, it gave me a cence of a solid foundation on the orisha, how to call on your ancestors the right way, the author goes into grave detail and explains things very clear, I can honestly say this is my go to reference book on the subject of the Yoruba tradition.

Interesting Connections
Every person with Yórùbà ancestry should read this book. The most interesting thing that I’ve learned from this book is about the Orisha Yemoja (Yamaya) “the goddess of the sea”. Yemoja is the Orisha responsible of planting pregnancies. Ironically, her symbol is the fish. Today, when people dream about fish, that usually means someone close to you is pregnant. The ancient Yórùbà faith is still within us all.

I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT I FOUND THIS BOOK AGAIN!!!
I have been searching for this book for many many years.I had a copy many years ago but after a few moves it was lost and I have been trying to find a new copy ever since. It is a great guide and teacher for those of us that are still learning about our culture.

Great read
This book has given me more knowledge needed for the Yoruba religion. It’s an interesting read that breaks down the start of the religion and their beliefs.
