Crystal clear, plenty durable for patio enclosure, great value
I used this to enclose a 16 foot square area underneath my deck, and I am very satisfied with it!After reading awhile, 40 gauge seemed to be the most common recommendation, but I worried that the thicker the vinyl, the less clear it would be, so I got the 30 gauge, and also saved a few dollars. The 30 gauge has proven to be plenty strong after several very windy days. Yet the product was so clear, wrinkle-free and uniform, I think my worry about 40 gauge was unfounded. I used roofing screws with rubber grommets on them and screwed the vinyl right into the 6x6 deck wood supports and 2x4 horizontal supports that I added. Rubber grommet screws help ensure no tearing, even with strong wind force. We don't really get hurricanes or tornadoes here, but a few nights of 35-45mph winds and a few good storms have come through with no problems, both in freezing temperatures and warm nights. A 54-inch tall by 8 foot wide section hangs great as one piece. I thought I might need to add another 2x4 vertical reinforcement in the middle to make it two 4-foot sections, but I don't see any stress from wind, so I'm living it as-is, which helps the space feel more open and gives a better view. Your mileage may vary, depending on the wind. My area is partially sheltered by the shape of the house. This was SO much easier than glass, less expensive, and more durable for a yard with kids -- no worries about stones or balls breaking it. It has stayed clean for several months, despite mowing the lawn around it and kicking up dirt. I hosed it off once, and that's it.Tip: When you first unroll it, it will have a lot of static electricity on the surface that loves to collect dust and dirt. So if you are cutting it to size on a carpet or outside, save the paper overwrap to keep underneath the vinyl as you are cutting it to keep the vinyl clean until you mount it. The static dissipated after the first day and hasn't been a problem since.I ordered more than 1 roll's worth. The vendor cut the extra to my size, and thoughtfully wrapped the extra cut around the standard roll with a ply of paper between. It was heavy, but it shipped fine in a cardboard box. I would certainly order again for another project!

Absolutely clear. Sturdy.
The screen door photo shows the crystal clear vinyl. The left two panels of the chicken coop are the clear vinyl, contrasted with the painter’s plastic on the right. This is high quality, well packaged, tissue paper on the roll keeps it from sticking to itself so it’s easy to work with, sturdy. Came quickly. One of the best purchases I’ve made this fall. I was quite happy with the crystal clear tarps I had previously bought for the porch, but they were wrinkled and it’s too cold to clarify with heat from a hair dryer. So I tried this product that I’m reviewing and I’m so very enthusiastic about it. I used a staple gun to attach it to the screen door and the chicken coop and it’s so sturdy I’m not worried that a wind will rip it off. I got the 20 gage thickness. I’m also impressed with how flexible it has been even in the cold. I had been worried it would crack if it got too cold. Not worried now. I highly recommend.

Good and thick !
The vinyl is awesome! Thick enough in the winter for a covering on the doorway of an igloo cat house ! Plus they can see out!

Keeps the weather outside!
I didn't realize when I purchased this product that the mil was twice that of my previous purchase. The price was reasonable. I am very happy with these two facts about this product. Additionally it works great for my purposes. For each winter season in the northwest (east side of) I put up four 8x8' panels plus a special panel with a 3' wide door in it on my front porch. I use 1x2 stock for the frames and attach this vinyl to the frames. Works great to keep the snow and rain off my porch so we have a dry place to receive packages and take off our wet/sometimes muddy boots too before coming in the house. The great thing about using the vinyl is two fold, first you can see through it (not as clear as a window but close) unlike sheet plastic used for laying out during painting, and second it really holds up in the weather. I've used the cheap roles of plastic before and they don't last through a long winter. For one thing the UV from the sun will degrade the plastic very quickly. Using this vinyl I've been able to put up my panels with the same installed vinyl for up to five consecutive years without it crumbling or tearing. That was with a thinner vinyl then this last purchase. I'm confident this will hold up even longer.(Just a note on the number of stars. The highest I give is usually only four, I believe there's always room for improvement, but occasionally I give five if it's really outstanding for a reasonable price. This vinyl is very good, if it turns out to be outstanding I'll come back and add the missing star - promise! (As long as I'm still around to do so at least).)

Great for winterizing
This stuff is exactly what I was hoping for. Thick enough it to keep cold out and durable enough not worry about anything poking holes in it yet still very flexible easy to cut with plain ol sissors. Super clear like glass, barely tell it's there. Compared to the price of small sheets of vinyl of the same quality this is a much better deal for the money. Shipped and delivered quicker thn expected.
